I retired a couple years ago and took up fishing! Mostly bass, but have begun to focus on Crappie. Living close to Juliette, I do most of my fishing there, but have never caught a crappie there. Plan to do some night fishing come summer, but would love to find some pre-spawn and during spawn this spring. This is my fist post to crappie.com so figure if you guys don’t know I’ll just have to figure it out on my own - if possible. Any advice will be appreciated!

don`t know anything about that lake but they should be on the banks and cypress trees next week . if the water temps come up a few more degrees . went to blackshear this week and the bite was slow all week.
Lake Juliette is a completely different lake, unlike any other lake in Middle Georgia. It is very clear and you have to learn it and not compare it to other lakes. I never had much luck trolling the lake. I had a friend that would go anchor on semi-deep holes in the trees at night and he would bring home a limit of very nice crappie. He used minnows and lights. I don't know what effect the Stripers have had on Juliette. The Stripers have done very well and have grown very big so I would think they would be eating some crappie. Sorry I couldn't be much help. Put in at Holly Grove? I think is the name of the ramp up the lake. Crappie are "easier" to catch up there.
Holly grove fish the timber single pole jig or minnows...troll the grass lines, red/white jigs were always a hot color for me. You want catch alot, but they will be slabs. plus the lake is full of yellow perch as well. I miss fishing Juliette, but since I sold my small boat, I haven't fished it.
its a hard lake to fish, its crystal clear, i have done okay at the timber around the lake
Appreciate the feedback! Have read some historical posts from this forum and recognize some of your names. Am thinking any success with Crappie fishing Juliette will come from learning how to find them then angling for them rather than trolling. Will plan to update here with my progress. Stay tuned!

FYI...there are some HUGE shellcracker in Julitte. Look for busted mussels on the bottom and fish the deep water next to it.

I may love catching big bluegill and shellcrackers more than any other fish.

Dutch, when you fish for shellcracker at Juliette, do you put in at Holly Grove or Dames Ferry? How deep of water do you find them?Quote:
