New Member Cypress/Caddo
Hello everyone new member here, so I thought why not make a post? I'm fairly new to fishing this area, and I'm hoping to learn the local lakes a little better. Does anyone have a recent report for Cypress in Benton or Caddo? I caught some fish this time last year jigging on the north end of Cypress, but I have never fished Caddo. Hope to report back soon. Thanks in advance!

Welcome Jcam. I live in Rocky Mount, very near Benton. Have not been on Cypress this year, though. Have heard no reports.

I haven't been out since the end of October. However, right now they're tearing them up off the banks in the shallow water. Hit the banks of all the coves. I get to hear almost daily about how I'm missing out on all the fun. :(

Welcome from the other end of the state, about as far south as you can go.

Welcome! I went to Cypress about 3 weeks ago on a cold rainy Saturday. Fished deep water across from ramp by the dam. Not a bite! From what I could tell no-one else was doing well either. I went to Lake O the Pines the next day and finally caught 2 at 10 feet deep in a creek. Went back last week and caught 7 big ones in same area, but off the creek but still about same depth. I'm kinda new to crappie fishing, so that was a good day for me. I was fishing C & C minnow rigs and drop shot rig with minnows. See Texas LOP for that report. Good luck!!

Thanks to everyone that welcomed me to the forum, and thanks Bossier Rob and escout for the fishing reports. Hope to get on the lake in the next few days.

I fish Cross, Caddo and Cypress myself. Believe it or not a buddy of mine tore them up on Cypress last week when it was cold spider rigging out front of the Parks road launch. Oh and welcome to the club.

Thank you for the report. I've never fished Caddo or Cross. What is your NWLA lake of choice this time of year?

I finally had a chance to get on Cypress. The fish are still scattered. I caught a few from 3' up to 14' using jigs. Water temp ranging from 56-58 degrees.
