Looks like they closed the MS river too! "Recreational boating activity has been temporarily suspended on the Mississippi River, its tributaries and oxbow lakes or other lakes and waterways that are influenced and/or affected by high water of the river. The suspension impacts only recreational boating and not boating that is related to transportation to and from homes."
Isn't Washington isolated from the river now?
That is correct. Just like Eagle. But it says oxbows. It does not specify river run oxbows or land locked oxbows.

Washington isn’t influenced by the ms river so I don’t see that it counts

That’s my thought as well.

You have to know which oxbow to fish! And, when... And, where... And, how deep... And, what color... ETC ETC ETC.... Other than that, YES....
I just got off the phone with the MDWFP. The guy told me that “the whole area” would be a no wake zone. Nothing will be closed to fishing , although that is not what it says on their website. So when you get 2 conflicting statements from the same source, what are you supposed to do?

What whole area?????? It says recreational use is prohibited!!!
Wonder is Washington is in that no wake deal?
I specifically mentioned Washington and explained to him the difference between land locked and river run lakes. It’s sad when the powers that be can’t tell you exactly what the rules are. 601-432-2176. Maybe somebody can a different answer than I did. Bet if you talk to a different person, you will get a different answer.

Working on it right now for Washington, going to get it in black and white.
My understanding that around the banks and piers it will be no wake but out in the lake you can run. To me, this is the way it should always be.
the last time this happened, 2 years ago i think, it was no wake for the whole lake, at least on eagle, but you can still fish. the lakes aren't closed. i do i do know that hwy 465 closed monday. you gotta come in on steelle bayou levee maintenance rd. from the looks of the river forecast this will be the case for a while.
Well Murdock, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just hung up the phone with Officer Harvey, the game warden in that area, and he is currently putting up barricades at the boat ramps. Eagle Lake is CLOSED until further notice. Now that may change with the wind but I just got that starlight from the horses mouth.

guess its cause of how big it is iv usually fished small oxbow lakes no larger than 4 acres and never found a crappie but again could be the size of the riverQuote:

I have caught a ton of fish in the Ms. River oxbows -Whittington, Beulah and Desoto. They are the closest lakes to us on the west side of the Delta. I haven't fished it in a couple of years, since the carp got so bad. I could catch a limit, when it was 30, with a jig pole. Lots of trees to fish around.
arnt they full of big gar and bowfin as well? id think it would be hard to have a big crappie population with so many other predators but guess since its so big and coming off the mississippi river oxbow lakes from stuff like pearl river would have alot more trash fish than good game fish
The gars are worse in Desoto than the others. They aren't too bad though. You may catch one or two in a days fishing on the others.
