Clearance stuff

Walmart is running the clean the shelf of old fishing supplies clearance type sales right now .
I found a few things for cheap and threw them in my truck . Creme mini tails tubes were 35 for a dollar and so off I went and pitched a few .
The smaller bottles of crappie nibbles in white were 1.50 each as well and of course I mentioned the BnM jigheads at a buck a pack as well .
I love my custom baits and friends around the country that make great baits and sell top of the line stuff , but to be sure I am not high enough up the food chain ladder to pass on ok stuff at great prices .
and as pictured below it is in fact possible to ketch crappie with cheap stuff rotfl
those of you that are on a tight budget and or just need to stock up on a few things might drop in your local Wally world ….:highfive
p.s. yes I nail polished the heads on the jigs and yes the only color I liked was the chart and black on the tubes

I always hear and see people nail polishing baits. But then people always talk about the smell of a bait being so critical. Do fish like nail polish more than slab sauce? maybe time for a test?

Nice! Here in East TN, the more it rains, the closer I get to the lake! Without moving!

I also use nail polish sometimes and I have no problems catching them. There is a video on youtube of a guy doing test with them. Once dried he caught fish and had no problems. :ThumbsUp

Hope one of my local Wal-Marts have them on sale. I need some black/chartreuse baits and hate paying regular price for them. Or for anything else. :Rofl

Nice catch. My local Walmart had all the Arkie Sexee Shad for 75 cents a pack. I hope they aren't putting them on clearance and going to stop carrying them.

I hit the clearance fairly hard also at the local Walmart's. Hard pass stuff up when it's $0.50-$1.00.

And I thought I had it bad. I’m a rookie.

Ours dont even carry most of those items.

I’ll be stocking up on crankbaits and plastics tomorrow, scoped it all out today but the wife was with me lol

YEP, ours doesn't carry these either!

Mine barely has corks and sinkers.

some walmarts carry large assortments and some not much , the proximity to lakes has a play in it for sure .
some I go in have lots of good stuff and some like mentioned are bare bones .
I have found some nice rods in some for cheap in the past as well .
and bought 3 shimano reels a little while back for 19.99 each
never say never

Ketchn is right, I worked for a Wal-Mart for 15 years and they will do that.

Another thing I have seen if an area has multiple Walmart's that one location may well carry brands and products that may not be available in another location across town.

My area has 4 Walmart locations and all of them have decent fishing departments but one is the best by far although another across town has desirable tackle products that are unique to that particular local location.

As far as buying fishing tackle local Walmart is the best source in amount, variety and price in my area by far.

I always see these posts about WalMart clearing out hunting and fishing gear, but it doesn't happen much here... I guess they have enough folks buying everything that they never have anything left to mark down...

I bought B' n' m jig head packs this week for .75 cent each. ( like I needed more!!) This Walmart was at Broken Bow OK. close to the lake, not a super Walmart. Was at a super Walmart in Arkansas later, much smaller selection and hardly any clearance items. Location is everything I guess. Should have bought some pink nail polish while I was there I guess.

I just left Walmart and purchased some joker and crappie thunder baits for a buck apiece. They had alot of jig heads on clearance but I have plenty so I passed. They did have a Shimano Sojourn spinning rod for $15.

Just bought a bunch of power bait crappie nibbles for 2$ at Walmart.

while we are on the do it cheap program I should mention this , you should buy your nail polish at dollar tree for a dollar brother …..and it should dry for 24 hours before you pitch the jigs in my opinion

yeah I thunk it might work ok in kinda muddy water and sure enough first drop I got hammered and even though I just tied a fresh knot and stripped line off to get to fresh stuff ….KABOOM broke me off it did …
I did the walk back to my truck for a new jig with my head held low saying something I can type here :Rofl

Our Walmart has some nail polish for $.98. I buy the cheap stuff too but I have bought more expensive just for color since wasn’t available cheap. Yup almost $3.....lol. I agree let them dry 24hr or even more. I have found using a base white helps some colors pop better. Especially fluorescent.
