Have not been lately. Have not heard of anyone catching any but someone else may have a better report. Water is 10' above full pool and rising. Have not seen the surface temp. It appears to be setting up like last spring.
Yeah, except it's already 18ft higher than it was last year at this time, and last year's highest level didn't come until Mar 3rd.Quote:

I ain't been since jan 4th or havent heard of anybody going. But somebody told me fishing creek looked pretty muddy at parkway bridge.
Its a compete mess right now,alligator 2 parking lot covered, bad muddy. Plus been a shad/alewife die off, last fish we caught last week before water got out of hand were stuffed full, hard to get bit

Fishing Creek at the Slate Branch ramp is muddy and full of debris. I believe it is higher than it has been in the last two years.

Waitsboro rec area and ramp closed today. Water in parking lot at the ramp, according to newspaper.

I read a CoE report that Cumberland Point was still open. The report stated that although the water is extremely high you could launch from the parking lot. You may want to check with them before you go to be sure. The report stated that it may be months before water levels return to normal (depends on additional rainfall).

I usually fish in fishing creek never been to Cumberland point. I cant help but wander how this high water will affect the crappie fishing season. I am guessing that it will be very different. Any input would be nice. I am still learning.
It could be boom or bust for this year's Crappie spawn, depending on when the water temps get right. If still flooded and not being drawn down fast, it could be a boom .... if the water is being drawn down fast at that time, it could be delayed or not occur at all. And if it's in progress and the water levels are dropped quickly, it could be a total bust (leaving the eggs/nest high and dry or open to Bluegill predation). :twocentsQuote:

It was abounded today that Waitsboro would be be closed thus summer
People are using the ramp at Slate Branch. Actually, they are unloading off of the road that leads directly down to the ramp. There have been boats putting in here on this ramp every day since Sunday. Even had a couple of pontoon boats today. Don't know what they are fishing for. The water is still very muddy and filled with debris.
Lake Cumberland is currently dropping about a half a foot a day. Barring another monsoon event like we had recently, it's possible that they lake could be down to summer pool level by the end of March. Of course, there's bound to be more big rains coming, particularly given the rain history we've already gone through in 2019.
Just found out that they opened up the dam to 59,000 cfs. At this rate just wander how long it will take to get the lake down to accessible level.
lake is dropping about 6 to 8 inches a day. If we don't get a lot of rain it will be about two months
