What is the magic temp for crappie to move into shallows

That’s such a heated shall we say and debated topic .....I think whatever the low water temp is in the winter at about 10 above it they are on the move or already in place to some degree .
Hormones, moon phase ,water conditions and other things have play in it as well
I am sure some shallow lakes warm daily enough after 4 or 5 days of sunshine and warm weather to get the ball rolling
Don’t know the answer to the exact temp as I never have figured it out ,but to be it’s time to poke around shallow some and make sure they are or ain’t there .....
Some lakes vary temps from way up creeks to the main lake almost 20 degrees as well
Water in the mid-50's.
One thing I learned early on for sure is if you’re waiting on a water temperature, especially a magic number, you’ll probably end up missing a lot of spawning fish. Applies to other fish as well. As said above, it’s already time to be fishing for them. Listen to the man upstairs lol. He knows what he’s talking about.
If you know spots you can usually find em shallow this time of year, try them out. Don’t stay in one too long if there’s no action. If they’re not there yet, try the closest deeper water spot or spots to those spots. This especially applies after you’ve found some shallow and cold weather moves back in. I’m no expert and still have many questions myself, but I have found this to work for me this time of year on foot.
This I know lol I just wanted to see what people thought

Can’t go wrong with 60 degrees + or -
I’ll be checking some of my old hot spots when it hits 57-58

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe the amount of daylight hrs plays a role. I am certain though, that the days are getting long enough for us to be probing the usual shallow hangouts.

Down here I never look at water temp. I watch the trees, When leaves emerge from the willows the crappie are spawning. When the mesquite or pecans have leaves; the bass are on beds.
Because you're holding a big ol slab and I basically gave you the Introduction to Crappie Spawn 101 For Dummies lol. If you ever need help learning how to tie a loop knot or learning what the difference between a bass and crappie jig is, I'm here for you :Rofl
There was probably more to it, in my head, but?
length of days also plays a major role in it …..I have found fish shallow several times over the years when everyone in the know said its to early and the water temps are not right and etc etc etc
one pro told a bud of mine way up north they move in on ice out at 40 degree water temps ….fyi
the silver bullet does not exist best I can tell ya ….
Never thought about that but makes sense. Tks

Why worry with them goin shalla, just fish the drops outside the spawning areas regardless of the water temp..... You'll be surprised with your catches.....
I do fish drops, brush piles, troll cranks but love to catch then shallow

I did alright when I had a boat. I’ve seen some good ones caught out of there, but it’s always been more of a numbers > size lake, in my case, at least. Being on foot is a whole different game. The trials and tribulations of the lonely bank fisherman.
Benbrook has some real nice slabs in it, but that lake can mess with your mind sometimes.
I have a friend that lives in Saginaw and he was talking about trying it out this spring

Water temp today on my lake 60.3°, most fishermen were beating the banks for a few small males.....I was over 11 to 13fow smaking a bunch of big females.....
Although I feel the water temp plays a roll I don't think it is more important than daylight hours and a few other variables..... I'm just gonna keep sticking my jig in deep-er waters for those bigger fish.....
That Gsauce put in work today.....
So many things can effect the crappie and spawn other than water temps like the lake level and if it's dropping or not and of course the temps are really important. Personally I believe it can be any place in the 50's if early spring you get enough 70 something degrees air temps days, seems about 4 or 5 days in a row like that can bring them in early! I don't think it's the only magic part though!

Temp, moon, and day duration seem to be the largest issues. Next full moon, temp to 60° and a longer day in a couple of weeks should do it.

Is there a location that show the Daily Water Lake or River Temperature ?

You can find main lake temps on the Texas.gov fishing reports and others but it won’t tell you the temp of the creeks. I don’t believe any river/creek gauges have thermal reading capabilities installed. I could be wrong though
