Bought a new tiller 4 yrs ago was going to get back into gardening. raised a big garden that year lots and lots of xtra stuff couldn’t hardly find anyone that would come gather it free of charge and no time for the market so lots of stuff wasted ! Also that year I figured out that fish are really bite n when gardening needed done couldn’t do both sold the tiller went back to fishing!
I quit a couple years ago. Fat lady next door installed a hot tub outside. Chemicals destroyed the soil. Musta been the alum.

My 84 year old stepdad already has tomatoes and peppers up about 4" tall. He raises all his plants from seed. He has built removable shelves for the window sills in the house. He rotates the little seedlings from window to window on a daily basis until it's warm enough to put them outside. He really enjoys growing and giving to all the family. Nothing better than some fresh veggies!
Good luck with yours.
I don't get too carried away. I only have 1- 8' and 1- 12' raised bed to tend to and 2/3 of the 8' bed is asparagus. I only plant peppers, tomatoes, okra, green beans and sometimes squash in the early to summer season, and not too many of those. I plant 7 top and mustard greens in August, that way they are ready for Thanksgiving for my Mom. I usually tend to the garden patch in the evenings, or after a fishing trip, those don't last all day anymore. Watering is handled by soaker hose and a watering timer.
Brenda and I get up before the cock crows and go to the famers market. We enjoy the mingle.

I do the same at times, we have the Chattanooga Market on Sunday mornings during the season which starts in April.
I've grown a lot of those same veggies over the years and a large variety of peppers. The bugs don't fool with peppers much -- especially the hot ones. I combine my crappie fishing with my gardening and use crappie heads as fertilizer.
I’ve been growing in containers for several years now. Couple years ago I put two crappie skeletons in each pot. Best tomato, squash and pepper harvest I’d ever had.

Mr S,
How's the garden coming along? I have seen several fishing reports from you so I know you're not spending all your time weeding....lets see some pics.
X2! On seeing some pics of your garden!

I already have 6 tomatoes set on one of my two Celebrity plants that I planted in mid April. 3 have set on the other one. Grin. I have a jalapeño pepper that is a little over one inch long and several more setting on from the one pepper plant that I planted. 3 Better bush tomatoes blooming and looking fine. I’m trying one Mortgage Lifter tomato plant and one Golden Jubilee. I am watering with the water from the creek that runs by my driveway instead of using tap water this year. T
The bucket garden is tomatoes and peppers, the raised bed is green onions, snap peas, green beans and okra... My peppers are a little more scrawny than I would like. Hopefully this hot weather bring the peppers and okra along. Attachment 344123Attachment 344124

Seemed like a cool idea and I was wanting to see your results. That looks pretty easy to maintain. Not a weed in sight! That allows for fishing time. LOL
Good luck with the garden and the fish and thanks for your reply.
