Years ago, I had to take my inboard ski boat to a boat repair shop. They removed the out drive (lower unit) and took all the guts out of it then they sent it to a welding shop who welded a new skeg on it. Then back to the repair shop to put it all back together.
If it's just a small section missing you could just install a Skeg Guard over it. What did on mine years ago and still holding strong after quite a few stud strikes.
Really easy to install also.

Jeff, here is a possibility - never had them do any work for me -
Midwest Propeller Service, Inc
15650 S. Lone Elm Rd. Olathe,KS
913-782 0213
Their ad shows skeg repair $145, primed - $185, painted, black only
You have to remove the lower unit and take it to them. Not a biggie.
Website coupon - MIDWEST PROPELLER: COUPON
They have a 10% discount form on the website you fill out and take in with the lower unit.
Midwest Prop. pressed in a hub for me about 3 years ago, great service, no complaints.
LOL I've seen the meatheads you hang with. I wouldn't call them Credible Witnesses. :yikes
I'd be surprised if Midwest Prop did the skeg, though they might know a place to refer you. They told me "just props". But they're dang good at just props....for future reference.
By all means, give 'em a call to check. Just don't get your hopes up. YMMV.
Then again....what do I know? I'm one of them so-called "incredible witnesses"!
LOL don't get your drinking panties in a wad Joe
