I never count short fish. At the end of the day I feel like I have keeper:throwback ratio estimate. But I've never counted them. Who does or doesn't??

I don't make it a habit, but can usually guesstimate pretty accurately.
I think Slabeye keeps a total count and keeper count on his clicker counters.
Have hard time just keeping up with keepers.
LittleJohn
Sometimes I keep a clicker for throw backs, 9" fish, 10" , 11" fish and over 12". I don't keep any fish unless the person with me keeps some so I fish to see how many keepers I can catch in a day.....Mainly before tourneys when we keep up with all of that any more....from 2009 to 2016 i kept a records of everything...
Greenfish you have no ideal how meticulous..........lol.....
If I dint keep up with my throwbacks I wouldn’t have much to brag about! Lol
It's nice to know keeper percentage but I don't do it the entire season. If I'm fishing with my wife, she always keeps fish caught with a clicker on her life jacket. I have one and keep up with box fish. If I'm fishing with a friend, I just keep up with the fish that go in the box. On different years it's been as high as 27 percent
and as low as 7 percent.
he is a VERY meticulous guy !!! Ask him about his notebook lol
It has paid off though
To answer your question ... I don't count short fish
I have two clickers in the boat. One for keepers by the livewell and one for total number of fish caught by the console. I do not regularly use the second clicker-mainly because I get distracted and forget to use it.
Greenfish, I'm kinda like Pappy, I just keep a mental note of how many that I throw back if I'm keeping fish. Sometimes, I throw everything back. Since I fish for Panfish, it's probably not a big deal. I did fish a FINS lake near me last spring and this is the only time I kept count since I was frustrated on the size of Bluegill in the lake(my personal fish survey of the Bluegill size in the lake). I was trying to catch a mess of 10 decent Bluegill. Caught 95, only 8 were over 6". So, all went back. Not worth getting out the stuff to clean fish if I don't have at least 10 decent fish to clean.
When you catch 3 and have 2 in the cooler it's easy to keep up with them.
