may have diabetes and neuropathy.........got a doctors apointment tommorrow. they gotta do blood work. left hand and feet went numb two weeks ago, while i was fishing sat i tried to lip a crappie three times with my left hand and they just fell in boat. not in a good mood today at all.i know the lords got this but ive always been strong and when you cant squeeze a tube of toothpaste its time to get help. no doubt

Could be pinched nerve in neck. I have that with hands asleep all the time. I drop things all the time because of no feeling.

That's what mine is sort of...arthritis inflammation in neck puts pressure on nerve to my right arm and hand....it comes and goes.Quote:

They found my problem pretty easy....blood test confirmed osteoartheritus and xray showed the inflammation in neck. When my right arm and hand go numb....I take a anti inflammatory ( aleeve) and it goes away. They advised me to take a small aspirin every day so I would always have a little anti inflammatory going on in my system. It helps a lot and does not happen very often now.

prayers sent!!! hang in there and if it is Diabetes,there are worse things diease wise, while a bad diease its something you can control if you follow the rules. I was diagnosed a year ago with it this past January and once I got requlated in about 10 days or so and watched my diet life is pretty good. I do have to take shots,but have reduced them to 2 or 3 a day . they have refined the insulin with these epi pens so all you do is dial in your amount and the needles are very tiny and short.

Like many younger people... I always thought I was indestructible. I began having very strange neurological symptoms about two years ago including numbness, tingling and (undescribable) shooting electrical sensations (such as I have never had) that made it very difficult for me to function, especially walk more than 45 or 50 steps and I began to get very unstable on my feet after walking that distance. I insisted that the VA dig into these mysterious symptoms (to which they agreed) after my satisfying my primary care provider that these symptoms were real and unceasing. Among other diagnostic procedures: I had 4 MRI's, a series of ultrasounds, thirty or so xrays and was sent to several Neurological, vascular, orthopedic and chiropractic specialists.
Trying not to bore you to death with the lengthy process, the sea of details and the endless complicated medical jargon: I was surprised to find that my symptoms were not caused by one... but a number of rather eye-opening degenerative conditions that are quite typical to the aging process. It was found that I had both cervical and lumbar spinal stenosis, that the rotator cuffs in both shoulders were totally shot, that I had bi-lateral carpal tunnel syndrome as well as left side ulnar tunnel syndrome. All of these conditions are well known to pinch, encroach and strangle nerve conductivity. I have gone through 74 sessions of physical therapy to hopefully affect the severity of all of these conditions... but to my and my doctor's disappointment there was very little change although there were some noticeable improvements.
The doctors have all recommended surgeries to correct these many issues, but I am now 63 years old and the idea that some of these surgeries (there are five) require several months to a year of recovery and rehabilitation (each)... so I have elected (instead) that I will try (with God's help) to live out the rest of my life as best I can without going through such.
I said all of that to say: I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who has these types of unexplained symptoms such as these... DO NOT IGNORE THEM!!!!... as there is usually something far more sinister than just a pinched nerve that could be responsible. Nerve pain and neurological dysfunction is nothing to play with.
One thing for sure... that I have often heard all of my life: "Getting old is not for the faint of heart." If I'd only known I was going to live this long... I would have taken much better care of myself.

I was diagnosed Type 2 last July. Leading up to that I had horrific burning on the outsides of my thighs and numbness in other areas. I finally got past the neuropathy and now I'm on 10 units of Xultophy daily. Now, that doesn't mean that I'm all back to normal. It just means that I'm not in constant unbearable pain like I was back in July. Certain foods really give me fits and I'm still learning to deal with it.
I'll be praying that you can overcome and be your normal self.
