This is an easy way to make crappie homes. Just push pvc pipe through old milk crates, & put a screw in if they are loose. Tie a weight & sink!

I've been thinking along those same lines. I use cedar stakes in place of PVC and buckets in the place of milk crate. Then fill bucket with rocks. I've got a lead on some plastic trays and will try them if it works out. The holes will need to be enlarged. Thanks for sharing ideas.:D
The plastic milk crates are a neat idea! My only concern would be if a jig would hang up in the milk crate. Sure makes some nice looking condos though!
These are pretty neat. How do you anchor them?
It don't take much, a cinderblock will sink 3 or more. I tied 1/2 blocks on some & I tied 3 together & used 1 block on some.
You just gave me a new way to make my habitats.......that is one excellent looking structure !
Now I know what to do w/ all my PVC.

lately here in okie land thats all its been doing is raining. that's not necessarily a bad thing though, espicially after the drough last year. once summer hits all this extra rain will be well worth it.Quote:

I have seen these type of of condo balls move around from wave action or current. I believe the key is to add enough weight to hold them in place; particularly when placed in shallow water. I prefer the pvc mounted in small buckets and weighted with concrete.

It works! 3 days later and there are still fish, my neighbors love it, it's a perfect cast from their dock, and he doesn't get around that well anymore:(
he said he's caught one of everything in the pond from it, are the fish gonna rumble to see who keeps it or will they share?
Only problem that I see is that the hooks will catch the milk cartons.
A friend and myself sunk a few and tied off a few on a floating dock in secret place,that way it will always be at 15 feet no mater what the lake levels do.. The ones we tied off sink by them selves and the ones I sunk I put 3 bricks in the crate and run the PVC through the holes. A 1/2 in is almost to loose and the 3/4 is almost to tight but we did it.
Also sunk some Bamboo the same way except we tied off the milk crate with 10 feet of rope and then tied the rope to a 5 gallon bucket with about 40 pounds of crete in it. That way they stay suspended about 10 to 15 feet off the bottom. They sunk just fine
