Does anyone have any experience getting out in the fields between 55 and 51 and in the far side of 55 to catch crappie? It’s high now and flooding which I’m sure some of you may know. A lot of good looking timber out there and curious if it holds fish. Thanks
Wouldn’t try that till after duck season have a lot of mad duck hunters if there was a guy crappie fishing out there.... Unless that was a duck hunting question [emoji848]

No sir not what I’m saying at all! You can give it a shot. Like you said public waters. But your more than likely gonna get in a confrontation doing it. And buy next weekend when season closes it will be bone dry. Provided we don’t get any more rain. Only reason it’s holding water right now is because the lake is up past the rivers banks.Quote:

I talked to man who came to set up a new bed in the house last year. We got to talking and found out he was a crappie fisherman. He said he put in at the Coldwater ramp in early Spring and fished under the Hwy 51 bridge, even during a rain, and wore them out. There's a lot of big crappie caught there, even from the bank! And Mr. Green Jeans stays there all the time checking licenses.

Ok, he said he was catching limits right now in 3 ft of water so I was curious. Its rare to do it now but I have done it before. Also the last post mo slabs was talking about sounds like it was recent. To be honest if he was catching them I would like to know bc I'm itching to feel the thump.
I wouldn’t worry about those trees if your catching limits in 3 fow off the river. With all this rain and cold water I’d say you were quite the fisherman to be getting limits up east in that muddy water. I’ve had some fantastic days below the dam in shallow water in the winter but not on the lake side. Do tellQuote:

you should have posted your "clarification", rather than your initial response of not seeing it that way.
But I do agree that respect is never out of fashion. I have had many duck hunts ruined early in the morning by fishermen. Yes, they had the right to be there, because it was public water. Ducks flare away from a spread for any of a multitude of reasons........sometimes it is by a fisherman is does not care about respect.
