A longtime friend on several crappie forums including his own has been an online friend for many years . Ed's wife passed away a few months back and he was gone for a while . I wondered what happened to him and had lost his phone number and his forum kinda went silent other than me on an occasional visit and a few others that hang around regular over there .
So he showed back up and has a boat slip and has invited me several times to go over there in the years I have known him and it isn't terribly far from my house and after all the years I think I best get myself over and say hello in person . You see I seem always to busy to get out like I used to and always have some reason I cant get here or there to meet up with buds and ketch a few fish like I used to do almost daily .
So the new plan is to make it to some spots I either never seem to get to and or haven't been to in what seems like forever and visit with my friends I don't see near as often as I should …..now onto my original reason for this post .
Yawl give him a warm welcome here as for sure he is good folks thru and thru :highfive
stay tuned as I might have a new lake report on his lake
only hit it once in my entire life many years ago

Thanks for the welcome. :) But I have been a reading member of this forum for years and have learnt a lot from this forum over the years. I don't post that often as my expertise doesn't match most of those here but I do enjoy reading the posts and learning.

As always Ketchn, you are more than welcome to join me on my pontoon or my slips at Joe Pool Lake. I look forward to one day meeting you after enjoying your posts all these years.

I extend the same invitation to anyone in this forum who lives in the DFW area or is visiting the area. If you want to fish Joe Pool Lake, just let me know the time and date and I will try to make it happen.

I can't guarantee what you will catch but I can make the opportunity available.

And Ketchn, the reports I am receiving this year on Joe Pool Lake is that all the Joe Pool Lake Specials have finally grown up and people are starting to catch a lot of 12"-13" crappie. I will known more about this in the next few weeks. :)

Thanks for all the welcomes. I posted a question in the Live Bait section about minnow traps, hopefully somebody will answer it for me. My wife would only fish live bait so I use to catch minnows for her when I could. I want to entice my two grandsons away from their video games into fishing if I can and think minnows would be easier for them to use than jigs.

I don't think anybody has found a way to control Ketchn and his picture taking. What makes me jealous is he actually catches the crappie for all those pictures. Or for that matter, control Ketchn, period. :)

I heard rumors that your wife had finally managed to insert a ring through your nose to keep you from fishing at all hours of the night. Devil Icon (wish this board had the ducking and running icon, as it would have been more appropriate. :fingerdance)

My luck hasn't been that good this week. I've fished four hours each morning four hours each night and have skunked out each time. Show hope it changes by Wednesday.

I'm not that good on pictures. I've never learnt how to use my cell phone for pictures and I always forget my camera. :(

Nothing wrong under house arrest, wish I was under house arrest. You don't fully realize what a good thing you have till you lose it.

I was going to spider rig for the first time with my nephew today. But the two little nieces wanted to go fishing. So instead of spider rigging we spent the day teaching them about fishing. Started them out using Zebcos as they are the easiest fo learn Tried to start them out with worms and bluegill but they were having nothing to do with that. They wanted to fish for crappie, using minnows and jigs.

We didn't catch anything but the girls loved it and want to go again. One is five, the other is eight. It was fun watching them learn to fish and answering all their questions. The five year old is a chatterbox, as soon as you answered a question or showed her something she had another question. :)
