Any reports on Sauger below Wilson Dam, or are they virtually non-exsistent like Pickwick?
Attachment 363860 This one was caught New Year’s Day it weighed 6 lbs and 14 ozs it’s potentially going to be the state record. It was caught around McFarland Park down below Wilson dam a public official came from Tanner and removed a few scales to be tested to make sure it’s a true sauger. From my understanding the guy that caught it works at the Bass Pro Shop in Memphis and carried it back with him to put in the aquarium at the pyramid.

Wow, I caught a little bitty one in the Flint River a couple years ago bottom bouncing a 1" jig on the bottom for gills. It was only 8 or 10 inches long and I had to wait till I got home to figure out what it was. Be nice if the numbers return.
I haven't seen one since fishing with my Dad 60 years ago (I was 10) when we caught one in the Tn River around Perryville, TN. We went to a commercial fisherman that lived in Lick Creek on a barge with a house on it. He told us what it was and it was good to eat. And he was right! Would love to catch a couple.Quote:
