That’s near me below Waxhaw. I like it bc it’s close to the house, has a ton of shad and decent black crappie. Most of the time it’s a fairly dingy color. If you come up this way let me know for sure. I have to see if my toon still floats.

Cane Creek Lake is this the one that MTHook fishes on? Is it a pay lake to launch? I wouldn't mind a trip to either one sometime. When you going to set up a trip to your home lake?:biggrin
It’s the same one. It’s free to fish basically this time of year. Hours are 8-5 and the sell minnows at the store up the road and at the gate. Bearclaw fishes here a good bit too. Even has a kayak launch at the boat ramp.
We may have to team up with a group and try it out. I have told MTHook I'd go with him some time and check it out. Thanks for the post about the two places. :highfive
last time i was there it was a fun lake to troll, good size crappie in that lake, what does its “basically” free to fish this time of year mean?
There are 2 cane creek lakes. This one is a county park lake in union county below waxhaw nc. It is $4 per vehicle n $4 per trailer. They have free entry this time of year till about daylight savings time. They have a campground on the other side of the lake.

This lake used to be a trophy bass lake 18" minimum then they just died off now crappie fishing seems to be the thing.
There is a large shelter at the launch ramp if We'd need it. I get a discount to rent
Just make sure it’s before March 10. That’s about when they start back charging $8 a boat

Quite a few kayaks. Don’t see skiers or jet ski very often

You do need a NC Fishing Lic too. Never been checked but if I don't have on I'll get checked Murphy's Law

The lake at Cheraw State Park has the same amount of lake acreage as Cane Creek. (360 acres) and it has a 9.9 hp limit.
