If any of you guys have stuff you are willing to donate, our club does 2 yard sales a year to help fund our outreach programs for children in our local shelters . Last year we hosted around 100 kids at our club and pond. We let them fish for a couple hours, then feed them a hot meal with homemade deserts. We gave each one a backpack filled with all sorts of goodies for school and personal use.
These are kids aged 5 to 15 that have been pulled from unsafe conditions and sometimes all they have is the clothes on their back. Often it's a mom and kids escaping an abusive spouse.
Out 1st one is in April so if you got stuff in your way that we can sell I'll figure a way to come get it.
Here are some pictures from last year's event. The buses are from the various shelters. The local fire dept brought a fire truck out for the kids to see. Heck, I don't understand what all of the fuss is about. Isn't that the way every sportsman's (pick one or more), [spare room, attic, garage, closet, mancave] is supposed to look???
I donated a bunch of my unwanted fishing stuff to my nephew a while back hoping to fuel his interest in fishing. Awesome to hear about the good cause that SeaRay posted about.
Now that's an awesome and very worthwhile cause if I've ever heard of one right there.
Hey Guys, wasn't trying to hijack a swap meet or exchange. Just wanted all to know that if you have stuff you want to get rid of I'd love to have it for our club. As you know, guy stuff like fishing equipment or tools are a big draw at yard sales and help us get more folks stopping by.
Thanks for all the kind comments. We enjoy seeing these kids get a break from a tough life if only for a day.
Yea I have been giving stuff away to help young men start fishing. Someone at church I gave a Hummingbird 798. Tell my grandsons before they buy come see me. Its fun to see peoples faces light up catching fish.Quote:
