My trolling motor is back! I'm a happy camper!!!!!! I'm gonna pick her up as soon as I leave work and put it back on the boat. Maybe I can get some trolling done now. Better than the phone call from the governor.

I have seen the phrase "happy camper" used for many years and I cant for the life of me figure out what the word "camper" has to do with anything.
If a person is happy, then they're happpy....what is with the "camper" thing?
Can someone explain to me, please what that means?
Thank you,
Douglas
I can tell that you have not gotten into the camping scene. Camping is some of the most relaxing stuff to do. Especially when there is not a big crowd around. So being a "happy camper" is the ultimate to me. You need to get out of the city and into the country and go camping and then you will know what a happy camper is.
Great news reelcrappie!!!!!!!! I know you will at least get a little sleep at night knowing that your gonna be fishing the way you want to when you get the time. As for the "camper" thing.......just an expression....but I can tell you there probably isn't any way to say that really fits how reelcrappie is feeling right now....at least not one we would want to see posted on here!
Picked that puppy up and mounted it right after work. Now I have to install the copilot, hook up the wires and I'm ready to hit the lake. You better believe I'm a happy camper. I don't know what it means either.
Ya need me to send you a log chain to tie it down with:D
I could give lessons on that trolling motor (and how to tie it down) if you want. ;)
Maybe WestPoint can sit up there and hold it for you.. glad you got it back.. We going to Blackshear 4/21????:D
Sounds good to me, Smitty. I'll have to see how things go at work.
reelcrappie, how do you like your co-pilot? i got one on mine, but dont use it much anymore.i bought a maximizer type controller from tex here in town.it is a bit more accurate as far as keeping my speed right.the 10 speeds on my copilot is perfect after my battery goes down a bit lol otherwise,im either slightly too fast ot too slow :) but is awsome to be able to move about the boat without a dang cord
Manta, I have not had a chance to try it out yet. I am concerned about the speed control, it has 10 steps and is not infinate like the foot controll. With the foot controll you have great control of the speed. Almost wish I hadn't bought it. I still have to install the thing. I'm gonna try it but I probably will use the footcontrol for fishing. Wonder what the range is on sthe co-pilot?
Hi Manta and ReelCrappie,
I was reading your posts about the co-pilot. I have an AutoPilot PowerDrive 55 and I use the 18' corded pedal. Although I like that set-up, I've been really wanting to try the co-pilot. If either of you ever decide to sell yours (or let me rent it for a week or two:D ), please let me know. I'm in Elberton, GA near Athens.
P.S. Manta, your pm box is full.
Thanks,
William
Manta and ReelCrappie,
I have the power drive 55lb thrust with the copilot.I thought the same thing no variable speed if you use the remote. This is not true.
First leave the foot pedal pluged in to the trolling motor. set the speed that you want with the 0-10 on the foot pedal then use the wireless remote to turn the motor on and off with the momentary switch on the remote.
The speed set on the foot pedal is the lowest speed on the remote.
It really does work.It is really nice when you have the foot pedal in the boat when the battery goes dead in the remote and it wont turn.
Ya one other thing the pedal always over rides the remote. So if you have the foot pedal on contunious the wireless remote does not respond.
Try this and I think you will really be glad you bought it .

Thanks for the information, I just installed the copilot but won't get to try it untill this weekend. The speed controll was my only concern.
Reelcrappie what length shaft did you get for your boat?
I got a 48' shaft and it's plenty long. How did you make out on the boat in Fla.?
After you try your copilot you cant live with out it. JMOP
