Killer video. What line are you using on your spinning reels to shoot?
Very helpful, and makes me wish I had side scan, too.
Love the video man you make it look easy I would be hitting nothing but the pontoon lol
Great video!! Enjoyed it!! Makes me want to get out there

Where do you get them Southern Crappie rods at?
Mark at the Crappie Hole in Chapin has some in stock or you can talk to Ed the owner at Home - Southern Crappie Rods
Great guy to deal with and a great product too.
Enjoyed the video, thanks for taking the time to help us old codgers learn a new trick.
Really good video. Thanks

Another informative video and great for the guys wanting to lean dock shooting. Love seeing those fish stacked under those docks. Good to see you let AJ tag along :)
Thx
Great video with lots of good info. I think I'll be trying that this year.
Good video. I've been shooting docks and such for over 20 years. I hate to think how many docks, motors and pontoons in that time that I have hit. :-). The more you shoot the better that you get at it. One thing about shooting docks, it'll really make you a line watcher. I think I've caught more by watching the line than I really felt the bite. I was taught by 2 of the best, Crappie Pappy and Don G. fishing on Watts Bar in Tn.
Great video. When shooting a dock do u hold to the jig head or the the hook, Never have shot any docks.

Hey
I think you said you were using 1/32 size, then 1/16, did you change size mid video?
Thanks

last question. When would you pick a 1/32 vs 1/16?
Im going to start practicing in the yard.

In extremely cold water I will start with a 1/32 and try to let the bait fall slow as possible. If the fish are really deep I will not use anything less than 1/16. During the spawn when depth isn’t as important I’m using a 1/32 to keep it in the strike zone longer. But ultimately I let the fish decide [emoji16]

is the rod a light or medium, I bought a few spider rods from Ed. I think I want to try this, any special reel you are using.
our docks are not the same, we have rows at a marina. Not sue if the effect would be the same but there are a bunch of pontoon boats.
I would need to go early or super late when people are not on the docks
thanks for video also, when is the next one coming out that you mentioned
I’m not exactly sure what the 7ft rod is. Guessing from the action I would say it’s a medium light. For the reel it doesn’t really matter as long as it has a smooth drag and holds 4-6 lb line, though I do like the abu Garcia Cardinal reels. As for the dock I think it matters more where the dock is as to what type of dock. I have found them on marina docks before. The next video should be out by this weekend if the weather allows me to make one! Thanks for the feedback!

Best video i have seen shooting docks as far as seeing fish. Tell us about what hb unit you were using. The fish jump out at you with no problem. Those fish were stacked and i don't find them stacked that much. Will you see scattered fish that good. Have been looking at a garmin livesope but if the hb hilix will show fish that good may rethink.
Your video was very informative and quite well done. I would also give you much credit for the way you provide follow up and feedback when questions or clarifications are requested by other posters.
IMO: This is exactly the type of thorough contribution, interaction and discussion that makes our CDC forum such an awesome and valued resource and not just another noisy and useless social media platform.
Very well done and please keep it coming.
You will see individual fish under docks. It’s not as easy to clearly make out as a cloud of crappie as you see in this video. The unit in the video is just the 1st gen Helix 10. I have no experience with the live scope, one downfall I see right now with the Garmin is the transducer has to be pointed at what you want to look at and it is not easy to mount. Thanks for the feedback!

Awesome video. Lots of good info. Can,t wait to see your sonar video.
I called Ed today with Southern Crappie, the pole is a medium light. He is sold out at the moment. If I get one it might be a 6' because of shipping. I bought some spider poles from him last year. I enjoy talking to him on the phone, he relaxes me from the stress of the day. I think I could talk to him longer if I could.
Very interesting video, Thanks for posting. I think doing that would be tuff with a 22' pontoon. Boat positioning isn't easy on a toon
Great video, looking forward to seeing more.
