Coffeen Lake

Any crappie reports at Coffeen? I’m hoping this forecasted cold weather will get things going there. Thanks for any info.

Yu probly wont hear a peep about the crappie bite on Coffeen. Im sure they are biting if A you find them and B you use the bait they want to bite LOL

I was there a couple of times two weeks ago. Caught a bunch of 9 7/8 fish. Got 3-5 keepers each time out of 50-75 fish.

Went today, plant wasnt discharging. Water temp has dropped about 15 degrees in last week. Bite was slow today but did get bigger fish than what we been catching.

Anyone going today? Gonna go today, got a feeling it will be crazy this weekend.

Lake is up, about a foot. Temp at ramp - 56°. Halfway up hot water arm - 73°. Both stacks at the plant had steam coming out. Clarity - 2'+.

Anyone know if plant is back up running, was gonna tomorrow but dont want to drive an hour if its not running

kmastr1 - Did you go? Sorry i didn't reply sooner. Saw steam coming from the stack the other day.

Gonna head up there in a little bit. Try too make a few casts before it cools off again.
Not sure yet if I'll bass or crappy fish it..... I sure hope that's the toughest decision I have to make today!

Plant was running.
Lake up about 2'?
Clarity - 2'
Fish - ZERO
Wind - lots of it!

Must’ve not been good cause it was warm out lol. Do our best on the worst possible days ever. Going in the morning. Should be good!

Nice catch! I didn't know they had yellow bass in that lake.

We used Minnows and slip bobbers. We Don’t really go far up into hot arm ever usually

And yeah usually don’t catch them. I think I’ve caught about 4 there. I did notice that some of the crappie this last time were like half black nose crappie but didn’t half the full line like the full ones do

Went today. Temps - ramp 48°, hot water arm 66°. Clarity 1'.

Went yesterday, ramp 50°- hot arm 68°. Clarity 2', getting better.
Saw several people crappy fishing, didn't see any being caught though.
Indian Grove has minnows.
Was bass fishing caught several. And two pretty little channel cats. Not sure where they were going to put the bait though?!? Both the same size.

Coffeen update. Power plant shut down. Water temp was 50 at ramp hot ditch 52. Very tuff fishing. Only managed one keeper. Caught 6 shorts. Everyone saying same thing. Very tuff. Water temp dropped 12 degrees in the hot arm from last saturday. Rest of the lake was the same.
