Trying to decide on a Garmin Striker or Echomap for crappie fishing in lakes and rivers.
The larger the screen the better, for my older eyes.
So many to choose from.... which model do you like?
Thanks

In my mind if budget allows I would get the echo map in largest screen you can afford. I would go that route because of the map side. The Stryker just has a base map with no contour lines or land markings. It just allows you to mark way points and return to them. Where echo map has good charts. As far as finding spots to fish and finding fish don't think you would find a great deal of difference in quality of picture. I don't run Garmin but they are dang good units especially for the money. If your not into spending a ton of money on the latest greatest gadgets to go with them I'd get the 93sv plus. Some really good buys out there right now.
Wish I had some advice, but I know nothing about Garmin.

I don't need any maps, just real good down imaging.
I have 3 Garmin units on my boat. Echomap are better units, and panoptix capable. The DI is good, but not the best on the market. If that's your only want I'd shop around.

Does that mean another brand has better down imaging?
I'm looking as well. Where is the best place to buy the 93sv?

I have a 93sv and it has a great picture however it has 2 things I dislike about it that my HB will do. If you record you can't play it back on unit to mark your spots so you have to mark as you go. If you view it on computer you can't see further to the side on side imaging than you have water depth as Garmin has some problems with Homeport which is where you go to view your recordings. That's my only complaint with it but having said that when I buy my next 2 units if the problems aren't fixed I will buy HB again. If you don't need that feature they are great.

That is an AMAZING shot!!
great shots, was wondering why one shot has 68.9 ft and the other is 80.1ft
When the cursor is moved, the screen freezes (stops scrolling), but the data overlays continue to update.
Based on the scale on the right side of the screen, the depth of the structure is ~65 ft
Good stuff for sure. I am a Garmin person!
The echomap plus and striker use the same transducer, and if memory serves me, the same pixel count on the screen.
As stated above, the main difference is mapping, and no micro SD card slot.
Get on Garmin site, I think the striker plus can also do quikdraw (a selfmapping feature).
I had echomap plus units, 73sv. Zero complaints. Garmin customer service is top notch. A buddy bought the units from me. Had some issues with setting up the account. He called Garmin, they got him going.
If you fish the same body of water, or know the areas you frequent, save the money and get the striker plus.
I have ran Garmin for years. I will give you a very honest opinion on echomap vs striker. I ran the 93 sv on the console and a striker unit on the bow. There was no comparison. I will say that the striker unit was one of the first they came out with. The images on the striker were not even close to the echomap. Garmin was great and even sent me a new transducer but still the same. It would probably be an OK unit for 90 percent of the fishermen but for others , it would disappoint. If you pay attention, you can catch them on sale and get a echomap for around the same price as a striker unit.
Thank you! I will check pricing in the echomaps.

Crawpee - I do not know that answer.
Their have been three "generations" of echomap. Non- chirp, chirp, and now the plus units.
The strikers, I think, are on their second generation.
Ecomap I have the 73 and the 93 and love them. I have had Lowrance Hummingbird and will not go back. you may want to look at the factory outlet store for a price they have them and great pricing.
Thanks Greenline, I'll search for it.

Look on bassboatcentral.com. click on forums, then scroll down. There are two sub-forums for each of the manufacturers. I think they are sonar and image interpretation.
Picking between brands really is more of a "what fits you thing." Chevy vs Ford vs Dodge. Apple vs Android. You get the idea.
If you haven't already, go to a store that has multiple brands, put your hands on as many of them as you can. One interface might be easier for you than another. Keep in mind, all these will be in simulation mode, thus all will have "cherry picked" images scrolling by .
as you cab see from some of the pics it is amazing and tho i have had the units for 2 yrs I am still learning and playing with them.
Call Cabelas they have the 93SV Echomap Plus for $599.97 Item number is IK-027372
It is not advertised on the website but the have them in stock in warehouse.
Does that include the transducer?

If the included transducer is either the CV or gt 52, jump on it.
Gt transducer not got transducer
Their have been lengthy "debates" on the GT vs CV transducers. The GT has a dedicated down imaging crystal, while the CV doesn't. The CV blends side imaging and 2d. Similar to what humminbird was or still is doing with some of their transducers.
From everything I've read on it, you really have to look for the differences.
Mine came with the GT52
Just received from cabelas came with cv52. Will try and see
You are correct mine came with the CV also I don’t know why I said GT lol sorry for the confusion must of been looking at GT when I typed it.
