Has anyone been to Wateree the past couple of days? Just wondering how bad the water looks? Thanks.

I pass over the Catawba river at hwy-5 (Lancaster/York counties) every day. It looks like crap & is a lot higher then normal for this time of year. I would think the lower half of the lake would probably not be too bad.
Thanks. In the way now to kill a little time.

I fished yesterday on the lower end of the lake and it’s pretty muddy, a lot of trash in the water, water temps 49-50°. Surprisingly there was a lot of bait in the upper third of the water, which made for a Slow but steady bite. Duck hunted this morning out of wateree creek And it was full of mud and trash. Rode all the way down to June Creek and it was Bad Muddy and full of debris. This is as About as bad of conditions as I’ve ever seen wateree from top to bottom. With another inch of rain expected this Thursday Friday It won’t be worth going For a few weeks.
Caught a few decent size striper in the middle lower half of the lake. Pulled boards, the catfish were almost as aggravating as the trash on the water. Beats working though.

Checked Duke Energy site. Lake level is currently at 99.2 and is not expected to rise any higher than 103.
CLW. By chance do you recall the water temperature?
Stayed between 51 and 53.2 on the water I was in.Attachment 325188

103 is high, that will close both ramps on the east side of the lake and put my dock under water again. I’m sure glad we just renewed Dukes hydro liscense so they can flood our property every month and not be held accountable. They need to install some flood gates or stop pulling so much water.
Seems Wateree catches all the high water levels. Sure has cut back on my trips down that way this season. To far to drive to have turn around and come back.

We canoed from below Wateree dam yesterday, this was the view at the put in point. It's not fishing but was good to be on the water. Saw deer and bald eagle.

Didn't have to paddle much, just guide the canoes!!

When I was younger. I'd climb down that hill on the far side and walk the base of the spillway and fish off a big rock at the corner of the dam and catch stripers. Many Moons ago! Use to be a dirt road that went down to the bottom and some people would drive down there with 4 wheel drive of course!. Good picture!
this was wateree Saturday afternoon only fished few hrs caught 1 8 1/2 crappie about 8 catfish lol

Dont know if it means anything but the ramps at 378 and Wateree river are full to the parking lot, alot of water moving thru that area right now
