What's you favorite holiday or seasonal food this time of year?
Most of you will think I'm crazy, but mine is fruitcake. My mom makes it by grandma's recipe (she is no longer with us). It's the best I've ever eaten. Gethsemani Monks make a close second. And I love some eggnog!

Country ham sweet potato casserole broccoli casserole pea salad mashed potatoes corn from the garden dressing made in the turkey rolls. I like fruit cakes and cherry pies for desert.

Yep, I love Fruitcake, Oyster Casserole, and BlueGrass Country Ham. The country ham is already cooked. The Ham like this is expensive per pound but worth every penny. Slice it thin, put it on a biscuit or roll and I'm happy.
Merliton casserole.
Homemade nuts & bolts, or some may call it trail mix. My grandmother would make it by the gallon bags. A friend of mines wife makes it and I get a bag each year. Brings back memories.

My mother used to make some kind of fruit cake that took like 2 weeks; I really liked it but I was in the minority of my family!

Blackberry jam cake was my Dad’s holiday favorite. Mom could cut it so thin one cake could last 2 weeks. I doubt Mom will ever make another one.
I miss my GrandMa’s boiled egg custard. Had to have at least 10,000 calories per 8 ounce cup.
I miss my other Grandma’s dressing and home-made pumpkin pie.

I missed Vicki’s Mimi’s (Grandmother) coconut cake that was always made with fresh coconut and the milk from the coconut was poured over it. The cake weighed about 10 pounds.
Dang I miss all mine and Vicki’s Grand Parents. Got too much thinking time on my hands these days.
