not there yet .... look to the river
Thanks Orion_70.
Numbers been better in river ...still scattered in Crescent...
I fish the north end though...the cut between dead and crescent may be better.. Do tell if you have some tips

We seldom go further north on the lake than the flats north of Bear Island or the old spoil grounds on the west side of the lake just north of there. We fish Dead lake and the cut year round though and usually do pretty well.
Where in the river are you referring to?
Tom
From Dunn's Creek North
Thanks. We haven't fished the river around there before, usually going to the lakes available in NE Florida (there aren't as many as central Florida guys enjoy).
We normally push jigs spider rigging. What techniques are you using in the river?
Tom
Same here spider rigging with jigs or tipped with minnows. We usually pull jigs too or bobbers with a minnow
Are you fishing the area near Buzzard's Island? Or are you staying closer to Dunn's Creek creek mouth?
Tom
When I hit Crescent I usually stay closer to Dunns Creek mouth...after that run down I'm ready to get lines in

A few weeks ago I was pulling twisters on 1/16 single jigs doing well. I’ve never pulled and never fished the lake before and was happy with results. 10 to 20 ft was doing well
What colors are good for Cresceant? I’m going to be there in February any help is appreciated.
Changes from time to time, but you won't be far off starting with something with chartreuse on it.
Tom
I hit the mouth of Dunn's on the lake end last thursday and caught 10 easing down the pads

Had good luck about a mile north of the island, on the eastern side in 10-12 fow. Pushing tipped jigs 3-5 feet deep. It was an unusually calm day so pushing .5-.6 was the ticket. The first few hours of the morning was slow but as the day heated up, so did the activity. Once a productive area located, its just a matter of slowing down. Acid rain, parrot, blk-chartreuse, all productive as well as an assortment of moon jigs in the same colors. Didn't encounter any hogs but all good sized averages and numbers. It was awesome with the wind down but minor ripples. The first 2 hours three fish....ugh.........the next 3 hours I struggled to stay in front of my 8 poles.
Late start 8am. off the water by 2:30pm...... 50 plus on the clicker.............and two very black thumbs.......................... everyone released quickly and in great shape.
It was just what this ole boy needed.............. cant wait to get back. It was an amazing feeling driving home.
Dang that's awesome, I have no idea where to go or what to look for in the lake. I need to venture out and try it next time.

Anybody doing anything on Crescent Lake Lately?
Thanks in Advance
I fished Crescent Sunday for 5-6 hours. It was very foggy and did not lift until around 11:00. I started at the mouth of Dunn's Creek and just started trolling south. Picked up a few decent fish. After the fog lifted, I was able to run to a few places I have fished before and done pretty good. Bite was slow but steady. Hope it continues to get better.
I'm gonna go either north end of Crescent or river by mouth of Dunn's creek Saturday morning. I think it's gonna be low 50's early. Any advice on how deep I should start fishing or what methods I need to switch too and from as the sun gets higher would be awesome, I'm trying to figure it out and YouTube is great but not very specific lol

Most people I saw on the River and in Dunn's Creek were Spider Rigging because of the current that comes thru that area. The mouth at the St Johns River and Dunn's Creek has a swift current, just try to stay just out of the "fast water". We had the wind to deal with and that made it even tougher, but we did manage to catch a few. Good Luck!!
Where you launching from? if out of Georgia Boy's, just ask Scott which area has been more productive this week... River or Crescent and bait preference...
Cool thanks, yeah I go out of GB since the bridge construction closed off the dirt ramp. Goin from free launch to $7 launch was ......great lol

I'm kinda stuck longlinein or drifting cause my trolling motor is too fast, so current doesn't really matter, I only get bites going with the current anyway

Yeah I saw last weekend where they went up on the launch fee..
I should be up at the Camp close to GB the weekend of the 18th and makin a run to Crescent most likely...hit me up if you're around then

Oh I'll be around, I'm always looking for an excuse to not go to work lol

Looking at the wind for tomorrow I'm prolly gonna try the NW corner of Crescent in the morning. Guess I'll go out on a limb and zig zag the lake around one of those points I recon

How did you do?
Sorry for the late reply, it was a pretty morning but only managed 5 w/ one hostage. I Longlined the whole time. Wind started blowing so I stayed I'm Dunn's creek till I hung all my baits on a hidden tree, got fed up and tried jigging laydowns but the current was ripping so hard it got old real quick. Was back at the ramp at 11
