WOW, that is a nice one! I would like to get a 3 pound one from Alabama myself.
Awesome! I caught one of those at my spot a few months ago and every where I called wanted $300 to mount it. I put it on video and just enjoyed the moment. Lol. I bet your heart was racing when she surfaced ha-ha.
Nice one for sure. Glad you showed the length with the weight. I work with a bunch of guys that say they catch lots of 3lb crappie but no pictures..... When I ask them how long they were they either don't know or tell me 15 or 16 inches . I have as to yet seen a crappie that was under 17 inches weigh 3 lbs. I have not made it to the3lb club yet , my biggest was 2lb 14 oz .Counting this one I have only seen 7 that were legit 3lbs and all were 17 inches or longer .The biggest I ever saw was 3lbs 5 oz white crappie and it was 17 3/4 inches! My buddy had it mounted for a price ! It might be possible for one in the 16 inch length to weigh that much if its a full of eggs but I haven't seen it.
Slabmatics, nice one there

Very very nice
Now that's a stud. Congrats!
I hear people often talking about catching 2# crappie. Very often. Most of their 2# crappie are 13-14" long. They've never put one on a set of scales.
Good one for sure.

Help. Recommend a taxidermist?

I know it's a long drive but Lynn Hammock outside of Auburn is incredible. He's color blind and has someone else paint the fish but they look like they're breathing when they get done with them.
I use to do taxidermy on mammals. Never done fish and Lynn was my go to for fish. Whoever you get to mount the fish, I'd suggest telling them you don't want the fins "carded" That's when they glue some sort of material to the back side of the fins to repair any splits in the fin. It looks completely un-natural to me. I despise it.
There are probably some great fish taxidermists in this area, I'll see what I can find out. I would definitely recommend looking at one of their crappie mounts before handing it to anyone. When a fish is mounted, the skin turns a tan color so every color on the fish has to be painted back on. You don't want that beautiful black crappie to come back as a white crappie.....
My god is this fish real? This is the biggest Crappie I’ve ever seen great job.
