water color still good....62 degrees...18 ft o water...suspended any where from 5 to 10 ft deep...longline jigs and pushing double minnow rigs....kincaid is next but need more stable weather to go that far....dubisson has been good to me when not muddy.
Good catch Vet...love the pics.....
You’re figuring out your style. I wldnt know what in the world to do with that much open water. Find a tree top or brush would be my only option.
From the pics, it looks like your plans are working.
Glad you’re figuring it out.

Hey Vet how big is that lake? Looks beautiful when calm. You have skills to find fish in all that water! I’m with M.S. on looking for a down tree or brush. I fish Verret and it’s 14,000 acres and only 6’ to 9’ deep but has many standing and down trees that sometimes hold fish. I’d be lost without that. :dono
Nice catch Tal. Thanks for the pictures.

they were all between the drain pipe and the secret passage....bait and fish...and out of the north wind....which will change after tomorrow....the wind I mean.....maybe the fish too but I doubt they will go far....oh and the giant catfish that has eluded me....twice now.....slimer......
Nice Catch Vet.
Nice catch Vet
you about to get it figured out. :HandsClapping:ThumbsUp
Judging from the size of your catch, and the amount of throw backs I caught this year, it should be on next year.

I had 2 thoughts about the size. 1. Should some of these fish be removed due to overpopulation?2. There will be a great crop of fish in the coming years. There were 2 fish I should have iced down but I only kept 1 of them. White crappie can be overly prolific. Guess we’ll find out in the future.

My thoughts were also twofold, but in the other direction. 1) Last summer produced some quality catches, not only in size but #'s too. Every time I went last June, there were multiple boats fishing and all were catching. 2) With the high water this spring, the lake was out of its banks, some more fish could've been lost on the run out. Therefore, I believe what's left is some smaller fish from last year and the new hatch from this spring. Let's face it, it's only a 200 ac. lake, but it fishes more like 400 due to its depth.
A closing thought; this is my third year fishing Dubisson. In the two previous years I only caught a handful of throwbacks (dinks). This year there were plenty of 'em. Possibility 3) the lake is going through a natural cycle with its crappie population.

Well I never did get to go last week, but loading up to be there tomorrow morning. I can hardly maintain sanity missing a week.
Give us a report when you’re done
