About to upgrade to a new fish finder, looking at different Helix models. Looking for any suggestions on the types of mounts, lakemaster map cards, etc. It looks like they are region specific. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I bought a Helix 7 si g2 and run a Navionics map chip. The maps are region specific and mine uses the micro chip. I use the mount that came with it but if you use a ball mount they say get a ball that is large enough to get a good grip. Hope that helps.

What are you upgrading from, and what kind of fishing technique do you do most? This would help us to give you some better advice. I have 2 Birds and am partial to Lakemaster.
I prefer the Lakemaster card also, bigger is better in FF.
Make sure Lakemaster covers your particular lake.

Just a basic HB 152, for depth and water temp, always used a hand held GPS for speed and a Nazionics app on my phone for a map. As far as techniques, I do it all, spider rig, single pole, pull cranks, pitch jigs under docks, doesn’t matter. Just depends on the time of the year. I fish the north MS lakes the majority of the time. Time to break down and buy a unit to do it all and make it a bit easier.
A Helix 7 with SI Gen2 and a Lakemaster card and you would be in hawg heaven!!!!

I purchased a helix 5 couple years back ( found it to small ), purchased a Helix 9 SI in the same year, wasn't impressed, unit was larger and heavier and it had more option's but screen size wasn't all that big compared to a helix 7, so I traded for a Helix 7 SI, have had it for a few years now and it works just fine for me.
Depends on what your going to hook with them what you might want to buy, some have more option's like 360 capable which I like, I would recommend getting every option possible in a unit, so down the line you can do more with it.
Screen size I guess is a personal thing, like I said 7" is fine for me and I don't see all that well anymore, and a 7 will cost you a lot less than a 15"
Hope this helps
Lakemaster Southest Version 4 is what you need. Helix 7 or larger. Check with Brian @ BB&G Marine, a sponser on this site. Nice fellow to deal with.

I run (2) of the 9 on my boat. One on the council and one on the front deck. I use the Ram mounts for both of them, the mounts that you need are the 1 1/2 long on the original size ball. The 1 1/2” long mount has always held my screens securely with no issues. The longer mounts will not hold the larger screens good at all!
I have a gen 1 helix 10 si and a g2n helix 7 si on my fishing pontoon. I added extra bases and power at the bow and can move them from console to bow. I usually just end up with the 10 at the bow since it’s so easy to just pop it off and move to the front base. I use the D size ram bases in all 4 spots
BPS/Hummingbird is offering a $200 rebate right now on the Helix
What about Garmin for ease of operation?
