I use the Rod and Bob. I get from amazon. I buy by the 100 pack.they cast well and dont have very many issues with the falling apart. The others i had a problem getting caught in the eyes during casting.
The plastic "dogbone" and "3-4 hole" shaped ones are hard to beat for staying put ... but, they're not going to go thru rod tip eyes easily, and they do get fragile with age/use.
The "rubber football" & bead on a wire loop are easy to install and cast fairly well ... but they do tend to slip down the line when reeling in a fish (they get hung on the rod tip eye) and they too tend to get fragile with age. They're also not always perfectly centered on the wire loop and that can lead to more hangup problems.
I will admit that I have never used the "string" versions (of any kind), so I cannot comment on them. I rarely used slip floats, anyway, so my experiences with the other three versions are limited, but what I described above is from those limited use experiences.
Here is link to another post on subject. Seems a lot like using mono and tying knot for the stop.

The mono slip knot works great for me when the knot is deeper than the rod length ( I mean when the knot has to pass thru guides on the cast). Cheap, too.
Dab of super glue
For about 20 yrs now I have tied my own using crochet string from Walmart. It passes thru the guides well and it swells when wet creating more slip resistance.
I tie them onto skinny hollow drink stirrers. Then just slide my line through the stirrer and slide the stop off onto the line. During the winter i will make around 50 while watching tv.

I use the rubber stops (like the one you mentioned) more often than the yarn or mono slips. In my experience the yarn/mono stops slide through the eyelits better when casting longer distances, but the rubber stops stay at the depth you set more so than yarn/mono. I don't know if there is a fool proof way to stop the slips from sliding while casting, especially long distances
i had a guy tell me when you pull the 2 strands tight put a dab of super glue on the knot then cut them about 1/2 in long. it should hold.
I use these. Easy to put on and stay in place.
