Santee Storm Surge

For the second time in three weeks I was able to get on the fish after a hurricane blew through. The vertical jig bite remains strong on brush in all depths of water. Not all brush are holding fish, and it seems you have to work to get the first one to bite, but if he does, you would catch several more right behind him.

Nice catch Ink way better than what we did in Kentucky.

About a a dozen years ago, all of us that fished Santee were talking of restocking it too. Along came the severe drought of 2005 which brought the lake down some 10 feet for months. Then the massive flood of 2015 that brought a influx of high water and nutrients. These catastrophic events seem to have rejuvenated the big lakes and the fishing has remained quite strong ever since.

Good ones Ink. I need to trade in my partner for you for the SCCA tourney on Santee this weekend.

LOL We could probably do ok, but with the foretasted winds of 10-15 you wouldn't be able get on, nor stay on top of those deep open water brush.

Good job ID. Glad the fishing is still good on Santee. Most of the rivers in Eastern NC got hit pretty hard. Hope to get down that way soon. Been dealing with Hurricane aftermath....
