Is there any issues with rods coming out of hi teck holders?
I have all three versions. For trolling; the best is the extreme version due to the taller, straight sides. When out the side of the boat, I have had rods twist in the elite version but never when they are used out the back. I do elevate the tips a little so that it wouldn’t be a straight out the back pull if something big hit or it got hung. Never lost any with them used out the back like that. The original were great for spider rigging but lacking sides I didn’t trust them as much as the 2 newer versions. My money to be spent again, all extreme’s. Hands down the best. All adjustments with 1 half inch wrench and no knobs to get lines fouled on at the wrong time. Tried the knobs and took them off. Just my experience and opinion
I took my knobs off also. When back to the bolts. The knobs was always getting in the way with lines or knees. I use the extremes for back and side pulling, as well as spider rigging. I love them.
When you comin back Chucker?
IM thinking a straight out the front pull since thats where i fish from? what would keep the rod tilt down a little to just keep going as thats what i need these for is to get my poles closer to the water since that toon is soo much higher?
Do u have yours tilted downward in front at all as I will due to being a pontoon. Not sure what keeps the pole from going out of the holder?

Unless you have the reel behind the front of the holder, leaning the rods forward is a recipe to lose a rod. Spider rigging I’ve done has all the rods level with the water. If they get into the TM then you need more weight or longer rods.
On Tom's pontoon we fish the rods just a little above horizontal when pushing jigs. Using 18 and 20' rods they tend to get pulled under water when a good fish hooks up. Don
Be back the first week in November, Skeet. Hope to see you then. leave a few in Monroe for me and my granddaughter.
Look at these. Upper right corner pick. Love these holders even though I have hi Tec on front for spider rigging on my stick steer boat. Have 4 of these for mounting on side for pulling cranks and long lining plus a 4 rack on back of boat. Very easy to adjust and can place reel behind y to keep from falling out. Call that number and talk to Gene aka E Z Poleholder on here. They are a little more expensive but well worth the money.

I bought mine from Hills Rod Holders and DIYed it. When pulling out of the back, I either make sure the rod is at an angle or if straight back, I put the reel seat in the rod holder so it can't just be pulled out. Have no problems with it spider rigging as the fish pull straight down typically. I replaced the rod holders in the first pic with the wire form ones from Hills you see in the second pic. That trolling rack is removable and I swap it onto my Lund for pulling.

Times 2 and ask Gene about mounts to put them on the rail of your pontoon.

Thanks for all the feedback this ole gal sure appreciates it. i have a flawless system now. with lil pro on brackets all the way around. of course they are not adjustasble on a square rail. i want the rods closer to the water. and even across. therefore i shall weigh all my options and feedback. i have talked to the makers at length last year when i was almost housebound so ready to make a decision soon..you all the best!!
my vote goes for SpyderLok holders, very adjustable and can buy multiple mounting plates and move to wherever you want in boat or to another boat.. Love the knobs for adjustment no wrenches required and they stay put when tightened down good. Ive got mine mounted on pontoon and they adjust high enough to fish over front/side rails no problem.
Go with- what- skeetbum said.
Love my SpyderLok holders.
