Got some "new" newage chenille in last week, think its called "perch"
I figured it would make a decent looking cajun cricket, what say you guys?

I think they look awesome! I especially would use that in spring when they are in shallow and the water is stained like after a good rain, they should really shine.

Personally I like marabou over pretty much anything in spring, but early spring when the water is still pretty cold, I believe kip tail may be better. Once it warms and they feel like chasing food, there is nothing IMHO that has better action than marabou, but maybe too much before the water warms a tad? Both work for sure though and Kip probably will last longer than marabou, however I know marabou on a Roadrunner will still catch fish after 125 fish, but it's time to retire it too, lol!Quote:

Rabbit beats marabou in movement all day every day, even on the Hyde, but I was just asking from a tying standpoint.

MS, I believe that you will like the kip once you tie with it. There is a little learning curve but even I did well with it. Also try the less is more thought. I’ve seen kip jigs catch fish with only about 10 hairs.
Ehhh, I tried... not as nice as Mr 20watts, but cldve been worse I s’pose.

I believe it's one of the little clip type hooks for fly fishing. I have used them before, but quit when I have one come off with a fish on. I do have some that I think are better that I use on braid so I don't have to retie all the time just to change jigs. These are called Quick Clips and when the company importing them was going to stop getting these little ones, I bought all they had left. I have a picture of them, but they are small, but nothing comes off of these. I think the trouble with the kind he's using is they use spring tension and once it's sprung it's not tight any more. Well let me tell the story more clearly. I had a strange set up then and had one of the little snaps on my line for my regular jig fishing, for me long lining. Anyway I had some double drop rigs set up ahead of time and I just use the snap to connect it to my line. Then a really good solid crappie got on and as I pulled him up the darn fish jumped and that little snap was sprung and the entire double rig came off with fish and all, lol! That was my last time to use one and I do still have a few, lol! Once I found these little Quick Clips, wouldn't use anything else and never had one get sprung or a jig come off. Maybe next time you need something from me you get a pack to try out?Quote:
