For those of you that use slip bobbers, what is your favorite type of bobber stop?
String knots, little rubber ones, or something else?
Thanks in advance.

mono
I've tried the ones shaped like a dog bone and the ones shaped like a ladder .... didn't like either one & they got brittle and basically just crumbled after a couple of seasons in the tackle box.
I've also tried the rubber nubs ... much better results, but only if you get the next smallest size in relation to pound test line being used. But, their downside is catching at the tip and getting pushed down the line when reeling in under much tension (like when fighting a fish to the boat/net).
Have, but haven't tried the string style, so can't comment on those. I've also heard members say to use un-waxed dental floss in place of the string style stops. And some just use mono, rubber bands, and various other things.
I rarely, if ever, use a slip float nowadays ... and with my favorite casting rods having micro guides, it ain't likely I'll start.
Have used the string style for years. Work great for me

I have good luck with the rubber ones. I think that they all should be checked after landing a fish.
rubber ones
I use the dog bone style stops. The only downside are they are ultra small and you better have the eyesight of a hawk to use them. My second favorite is just a regular old rubber band.
Football rubber ones from Bass pro shop. They are cheap and Ialways put one below the bobber as well. It keeps me from having to chase my float down when I break off and I can pin it up high when I want to tightline/vertical.

I’ve been using a scrap spool of 10lb mono for tying my own bobber stops with no issues.
Seems like scrap mono has a following.
This, of course, is market research. I'm getting low on stops that I include with my bobbers, and I found out that my supplier passed away in May. Many thanks to Jim Zanke, who owned Hook 'Um Tackle in Minny, and much respect for his memory. I don't know if his family is continuing his business, but it seems not from the online presence. I don't know that I can find string knots of such high quality anywhere else.
Thanks for starting this thread it reminded me I needed to order more bobbers and stops...your Bobber Stops are the best string stops I've used...
I use those little rubber ones.....and I'll be using them for a while, my bride bought me a 1,000 pack for a stocking stuffer last Christmas.
That may be a 500 pack.....all I know is she bought them on amazon and may have bought multiples of it. I’ve given some to friends I fish with, maybe I should do a YouTube giveaway on them [emoji23]
When she knows I like something she buys lots, I wanted some Berkeley flicker shads a few years back and she came home with about 30. Told her I liked those Huk boxer briefs, she bought 7.
Yep, I’ll keep her!

Nope, two is enough. She won’t let me sell the little one.....she says it’s handy for fishing small lakes. Can’t argue her logic.....

Now don’t you know part of being famous is having a garage of cars or in this case boats. Maybe even have them painted all sorts of wild colors. It’s a requirement...lol
I like

I like the rubber ones. Next time I buy, I’ll get a high viz color instead of black. They’re too hard to see and get reeled through the eyelets and hang up.
I prefer the pretied string style. A pack of 50 lasts years and there inexpensive. Saves me the hassle of tying my own.
