Thursday 10-4-18 Lake Monroe
I got up early again today, so I make an other early start on the lake. Much to my surprise,I was the second one in the lot and number 3 and 4 showed up while I was staging the boat.
It was still dark as I moved into 7 feet of water. I shut down the big motor and started to set up the rods. The other boats raced by me. I got all the rods out and started the small kicker motor and set a course for the sign line and stone island. Nothing happened at first but when it did I had three rods go off one after the other. Now that was a nice start !
I had decided that I was going to only keep three fish today. I really didn't feel like cleaning a lot of fish and the freezer still has a good supply in it. So it was three on the counter and one in the box.
I got down to sign # 1 and did an about face and started to work my way back. By now I had 10 on the counter and 3 in the box (one of the three was just barely 11" ). I pass by close to another boat and give a shout out to him. He had 5 so far. We both stayed in the area working back and forth.
I have a rod bend and I bring aboard a nice 12''er. the small one goes back. I now have my 3 nice keepers to take home. But the rods keep bending. And I keep marking the location. I hope to have a few good spots to work come Saturday .
The wind starts to pick up and the bite starts to slow down. I look at the counter and it's at 22. That is the best that I have done in a long time. I pull the rods and head in with a big smile on my face. It was a good day!!
I put the boat back on the trailer and it's only 10 o'clock.
