Lake Verrett

Had a great Sac-A-Lait Saturday with Rob Bergeron tournament fishing on Lake Verrett. Can’t say enough thanks to Glenn Davis for putting this on. Absolutely great group of guys and gals to fish with. We managed 9.06 lbs. to pull out a 2nd place finish with 1st, 2nd & 3rd all over 9 lb stringers. Rob managed to take Super Slab with 1.70 lber. All fish were caught on hair jigsand shiners form The Bait Shop in Port Vincent.

Yep, Verrett is special. State record white came from there and #7 and #8 too. A lot more that were never submitted for the record list.

Maybe with the lack of hurricanes for a few years the lake could return to its place as the greatest crappie lake in south La.

Gene to be honest I think it is still one of the greatest crappie lakes in South, LA. In the dead middle of summer with temperatures in the upper 90’s and water temperatures at 93 degrees we were consistently catching huge slabs in 3 ft. Of water. That lake is something special.

If you have patience just get some hair Jigs and work the fallen tree tops.
