As I recall we used weighted treble hooks and foul hooked them up north.
Tasted like veal cutlet.

The best part about big black drum, is when you clean them, you can save all the worms in the meat for crappie fishing!
Idk where people come up with these worm rumors but all the drum we’ve cleaned we’ve had 2 out of over 300 with worms, good enough for me.

Small black drum say up to about 9 pounds are good eating. The big one the best way to cook them is on a cedar slab then throw away the fish and eat the slab. I have fished them a lot at St Augustine and Mayport inlets and enjoy their bull dog fights but those large breeders need to be released. BTW there is no off season for Specks in Florida just sometimes of the year better then others. Many large drum do have worms in the flesh normally back toward the tail section. They are white in color and can be hard to see. Like the fish they can be ate if you so desire but they will not get into the cedar plank while cooking. Don
Can you post a link to the video, love to see it

A 10 pounder or smaller is a fine eating fish. I have ate many and enjoy fishing for any size black drum. Many of you might not know but you can hear a school of drum. Don
It’s an incredible sound when they start drummin together, they haven’t heard it at all so far this year,I normally hear em when the shrimp are running.

Copied pic from internet black drum with worms. Worms will desolve when cooked. I have caught plenty from under Bridges over Tampa Bay. Large schools cruising around the bay. Small ones are great, you can have the big ones. Used half a crab for bait. Mid summer on some Trout have the same worms.
We used to have to quit keeping Yellow Perch in Minnesota was they go wormy when the water warmed up.
Reason I ask is that fish doesn’t look very big, but everyone telling me they ain’t no good or they are full of worms 2 out of a couple hundred are odds I’m willing to work with.

I’d be more than happy to bring some to the cookout on oct6 if someone is willing to cook it up.
