Crappie on a large pier.

I caught several fish off this pier but the cross braces were built by the devil. I lost 5 jigs on the braces. Thought I'd share this screen image because this stuff just gets me all warm and fuzzy inside.Attachment 316120

Jim .... next time you fish a jig on docks/piers with those cross braces from Hades .... try using a weedless jighead. You'll get just as many bites, just as many hookups, but won't lose near as many jigs. And if you like bigger hooks than what jigheads on the shelf come with, we've got a few members that will custom pour jigheads with larger hooks. I use 1/32oz & 1/16oz weedless jigheads with #2 Aberdeen hooks in both, that I have custom poured. In fact, the only time I DON'T use a weedless jig is when I'm Pushing or trolling them.

And don't forget to try Vertical Casting on the deeper ends of those piers/docks, if the fish will allow you to get over top of them. Here's my article explaining what I mean : Crappie Pappy Article

Thanks Crappiepappy. I had fun fishing it just a little tough. I'll try to get my hands on some weedless jigs for sure. That boat dock is a community dock for a large condominium complex. I had to rub my eyes the first pass on that dock.

Some of the best shots under a dock that I have seen. Is this a mega unit, where is the transducer located? Looking to replace a 998, shooting docks is about all i do, maybe a few laydowns. I like what i have seen with the livescope units but not sure how good they are also may be more than i want to spend. Any advice out there. Bird mega 10 gets a lot good press.

Really nice shot. I know where that dock is, it holds fish almost year round. Gets allot of pressure but your unit shows it still holds allot of fish. GeneC has caught some really big fish there. Thanks for the post.

Don't think that Don and Gene have fished together on this lake. It's a great dock for sure.

mustfish,nice pic ,show more. my tm is still at shop ,no fishing for me for awhile, Agruss your 998 should give about that good of pic because the fish are in water column ,i have a 1199 and it gives good pics in water column like that ,maybe a little less not sure but my slanted 859 will give that type pic and can tell about the size of fish,but looking bp mega can't be beat and shadows are great
