Should have gone back to Cane Creek

Hit the water at about 7, headed for Big A long lined and had a few minnows down. Poked around till noon with only one green carp, one crappie and one blue gill.
I missed two, one broke off close to the boat, never saw it. I should have left to old line on the reels. 1st trip out and it breaks off.
Found the break off and crappie at the steam plant piling

I drove around looking for those brush pile we dropped in 2016 but somebody has moved them cuz I can't find them. I dropped markers as I approached the marks then one past. I went back parallel at 20' out then 40' the 60' on both sides of the markers then did the same perpendicular never saw a mark that looked like it was siting on the bottom, lots of bait.
I guess I'll have to go to plan B TNT lite and drop, get the net and scoop

cane creek is empty. Attachment 315126

I just left cane creek. Practiced pulling cranks. Ended up 2 bass and something big that I fought for 15 minutes on 18 ft pole with 50lb braid. Ended up bending my hook on a bandit 300. Never saw it but thought it was a log until it started pulling line out. Threw some jigs out too eventually and caught 2 small crappie running shallow. Was hot but wasn’t at work so good day.

Lee, it might have been a turtle, a few years ago we caught a turtle 18" across, thought it was a log, then it started heading toward the dam. Managed to get him to the boat and let him go, didn't want him in the 14' Jon boat with us

Did you notice what the water temp was at 7AM?

Got a late start but main lake was 83, up at the other end it was 80 where creeks feed in.

It probably was. Sad thing is that it was the highlight of the trip. Slow day fishing is better than good day at work. On another note, I asked the front office when minnows get delivered. They said usually on Wednesday

Nah either a swimming log or a turtle. Lake is about the size of little Allison on Wylie. $8 to launch and close to the house. No jet skis 99% of the time or water skiers.
