Road Runner Question

How well will road runners work for dock shooting under low docks

Not all that great in my experience. They just don't "skip" all that well with the jewelry hanging off their necks. :Doh:

Best skipping plastics I've used are the Assassin Tiny Shad, solid body tubes, or stinger shad style bodies .... but on a 1/16oz weedless jighead, not a Road Runner head. That blade just seems to dampen the ricochet action when it hits the water. That's been my experience, anyway .... and I'm a Road Runner slinger from way back.

CrappiePappy is right about them not skipping but if you have enough room to shoot them back under the dock without having to skip them, they are great lures under the dock. That spinner attracts the crappie but there ain't going to be no skipping and you need to use the 1/32 or whatever is the smallest so they don't sink to fast. Good luck.

i tried RR and they don`t skip . shallow water you don`t need a large jig .

for me, not that great, they just don't skip very well at all. I use 1 1/32 jig head, give it a try they skip very well

The reason Roadrunners are worth shooting under docks is: crappie don't see Roadrunners under docks very often so it is a new lure to them and that spinner attracts them. If you have to enough room between the dock and the water to shoot them straight under the dock, is the issue. Like the guys have said there will be no skipping involved. Reel them slow and let them fall a little bit and they will catch crappie. Use the smallest Roadrunners and I usually use curly tails on them. I have caught a lot crappie on Roadrunners. It never hurts to give something new a try (will maybe a few lost lures, LOL.) I catch limits in very muddy water now because of something different I tried one day at Lake Tobesofkee when it was so muddy most everybody was loading up and going home, I stayed and me and my wife's father caught two limits. A lot of people wouldn't fish real muddy water but the fish still eat. I kind of like muddy water now because I know I am going to catch crappie. The point is: try different things especially when the crappie aren't biting anyway, you have nothing to lose. Good luck and be safe.

i have never done real well on tobosofkee, at least never had much size to them. i have used the slab tickler, kind of like a road runner blade and had good success on lake oconee

I have caught a lot of nice crappie at Tobo. It can be a finicky lake but it warms up fast and the crappie turn on early. Plus I can be home in 30 minutes after I get the boat loaded so that is nice if I have to do something or be somewhere. I use to bass fish Tobo and we fished in the Wednesday night bass tournaments and it is even harder to bass fish. After it warms up in the spring there are so many boats and jet skis on the water it really isn't any fun to fish anymore. I will have to check out the Slab Tickler, thanks for mentioning them. I agree, the jet skis and other boats on that lake will drive you crazy, way to much traffic on the lake. Academy sports carries the slab tickler, in the pack there are a few sizes and colors

yes Blackshear is like that on the weekends . they will come up in to the creeks and make waves .on the big water it looks like a storm with the waves from the boats . early morning can be ok and during the week .

I thought I was the only one that cussed them jet skis. I’ve learned to get over when I see a boat coming pulling a water skier, the driver is usually looking backwards.
