MO and I talked about having another meet/greet at Old River Landing in the fall. Anyone interested in doing another fish and lunch on October 20th? Lunch at the landing at noon.

If the river dont rise I'm ready.
ready.....
It shouldn’t rise until February or March. Usually stays low in the fall

I missed this get together but sure like to make the next one.
Hopefully we don’t. Good thing is Old River is dammed off so the MS doesn’t affect it until it gets to 15.5 ft or higher at the BR scale. It’s at 12 ft now and dropping so a little rise shouldn’t affect it. Fingers crossed.

Where is this "Old River" that you speak of?
Morganza, La.
Oxbow next to Mississippi river

The name of the launch is old River Landing.
There’s a couple landings you can launch at but Old River Landing is the best one to use. I find the other one isn’t steep enough. Attachment 315243

We’ll have to keep an eye on the river stages like mentioned above. There’s a big rise coming in the next couple weeks. As long as the river is dropping on 10/20 it’ll be worth fishing. Attachment 315863

Could make the fishing better if the water is higher though. They might move into the button woods. I went last weekend and it was even lower than it was when we met up at the landing. Put the boys on some small bream and caught a few bass.
I’ll be able to start gathering logs for my raft this fall if it comes up high enough too. Planning to build it next year.

Mississippi River 41.8 ft at Natchez gage by end of the month. Gonna put a damper on the gathering
The 28 day forecast shows it creating at 28.7 ft in BR then falling but that’s usually not very accurate because it is forecasted on the expected rainfall over the next 48 hours. We still have over a month before we fish. It could rise then drop back down below the damn level in that amount of time. As long as it is below 30 ft in BR and dropping I’ll be there. A slow fall would be best but a fast fall won’t stop me.

The Father of Waters is dumping a fresh batch of sacalait into Old River, then falling.........MO is waiting

Looks like there’s another small rise coming over the next week then a slow fall as long as we don’t have too much rain up north. Supposed to be down to about 24 ft at the BR scale on the 20th. Perfect level for fishing in the woods. Attachment 318156

OH OH, what happened Vet?
"gene"
I might have room in mine. Thinking about bringing my 2 boys but should have plenty of room either way. Last fishing trip of the year with them so I’m going after whatever bites first, sac-a-lait or bream. If the water is up high enough the ballpark area should be great for bream if we can’t find any sacs.

River forecast isn’t looking good. Looks like it’ll start rising on the 19th. Might need to push this back until the spring unless y’all want to try in November/December. I’ll be hunting though. Attachment 318943

That’s what I’m thinking. It might have to be short notice so we can catch it in b/w rises but we will see.
