I found a few hours today to catch supper. I kept 10 Crappie and 15 gills and Shellcrackers. All came off a 1" slider on a 1/32oz jig head bottom bouncing in 12 to 15 feet of water on a deep grass edge. I returned another dozen Crappie and many, many gills. The water was clear with visibility of about three to four feet and 85 degrees.

I encourage anyone with a kayak or jon boat and trolling motor to give this lake a try. No gas engines are allowed, so it's quiet and you won't get run over by water fleas. The fish are usually 12 to 15 feet deep while the lake is much deeper, 65 to 70 feet in many areas. I don't fish for bass, but typically catch dozens every trip. Last year the lake was very low and clear with visibility around ten feet. I saw numerous bass in the 4 to 5 pound plus range. Best of all it's a 100 plus acre lake with near zero fishing pressure.

I think most of the land around the lake is private property, except the dam and a small put in.

I've fished up the creek, but always put in at the dam so I'm unsure of bank access.
When you say bridge by the Church I think of the old city lake...it has a bridge by the church.
I believe it is the old city lake.

I let the jig fall to the bottom, raise the rod tip a couple feet and let the jig fall back to the bottom. Most fish are picking it up on the fall, the next rod lift ends up hooking the fish.
This lake has a hard rock bottom with some grass growing out to a depth of 10 to 15 feet. The grass is very thin and only grows about 6 to 12 inches off the bottom. I'm fishing the edge where the grass ends in the deeper water.

Ditch basser you put ur kayak below the dam my buddy went today and told me that the gate was lock.. So he put in at the church.. And paddle down stream..
Rumor has it there is a boat launch on this lake. Anybody know anything about that and where it is.

There's a rough, unimproved launch next to the dam, I believe the remaining bank is private property.

You can also launch on the other end of the lake where the road crosses the creek. A friend of mine was telling me he launches his 17' Grizzly set up for trolling motor only on that end. This is not as steep as the dam end, but still a rough launch.
I've fished up the creek, but not to the end. The few boats I've seen this year came from that end though.
I have fished the creek end a couple of times this year, seems like everytime I get to go the wind gets up too high to fish the lake. I am wanting to learn to catch the deep water shell crackers and crappie.
