Met Richard (ripinlips) at the ramp Wednesday morning and headed up lake. Found fish on the flats but really shallow. Almost nothing in over 10 fow. We even had quite a few in 4 and 5 fow. Ended up with 27 along with 3 white bass. Also had some small catfish and a drum. All caught on 1/8 Oz jig with a minnow. Fish really scattered now? Hearing reports from guys cranking 15 feet down in 60 fow in the same lake as guys catching back in creeks 3 fow spride rigging.

All were caught in an area the size of maybe two football fields. We had been fishing out to about 15 fow but the deeper fish just weren’t there. We just happened on the really shallow bite going from point a to point b. Rather than run fast to a good spot we were just running slow and started getting bites by leaving the jig in the water. Truman is funny like that. Everywhere else you have fish 20 feet down and here we are stirring mud up with the motor. We even caught some shorts at 4 feet.Quote:

I saw a few possums come out of a dead cow you couldn't get 50 from without a gas mask. No possum for me.
I will say this, and it's only my 2 cents worth, If it meant go hungry or have a full belly, It's possum for dinner. Our for fathers ate many things folks today turn their noses up to, because of this or that...they ate these things every day. Then again It's just my 2 cents worth...
My grandparents ate a lot of that stuff. I have as well but not like they did. Raccoon is good but my favorite is beaver.
