Thank you KYTER I copied one of your patterns Two days ago.First off we went out last night Fishing in the local reservoir We were using my typical plastic bait And couldn't even get a strike So I had 2 Hand-tied jigs What of them was your pattern Another one was a little itty-bitty guy So I decided to Put them on and give it a shot That was the ticket they wanted something A little bit smaller What's a little bit different action So you definitely want to Take a variety Plastic Baits In hand Tied Jigs We had a successful evening I caught over 45 crappie 10 small mouth bass And three bluegill All on my hand-tied jigs. Don't life at the jig It is kind of a poor Tie job I did But It Did the job.

The jig looks great to me and the fish sure let you know it was tied right for them.I am glad you did well with them and had a great time.

I always stress that to my grand kids

for many of their worse looking ties have produced the best catch of the day
Only to have them try to duplicate what was their worse tie

I have tied them in several different colors and have a pretty good box full now.You never know what color they will want.

Thanks guys We enjoy Messing around with The jigs Been doing it for 55 years Or more They just caught me off guard Because that one was different And didn't have much faith in it To tell you the truth Because it didn't have Very little action But maybe it was the ideal that it look like some type of bug Or some type other creatures that they were feeding on. Have a question guys How many of you have use Mr. crappie Fishing line We just bought a 2000 yards 4 pound test To give it a try Looks like pretty good stuff Seems to be pretty Strong.

That's what I have on 2 reels now. First impression is I like it.

I was having trouble with some other linesIs the reason why I wanted to give it a tryI got the 4 pound test It sure seems a lot stronger I guess I'll find out how strong that is when I hook up on Stump Or a Rockpile How is the visibility and water With the yellowing Of the line It will probably be another week Before I get out to do any fishing.

I am using both the 4 and 6 lb test lines and like them both.

Well Bob I have some and like it fine for mono, but I use Power Pro Braid most of the time. It's 10 pound line in 2 pound size. I do have to admit that lately I have been thinking of going back to mono in a test kind of thing next spring or this fall if I get the chance.

I used Power Pro for a quite a few years. Two years ago went back to mono. I use Berkeley on my tight lines 8 lb. On my dock shooting I use viscous 4lb. Both have held up great.

Skip I never did like braid I have tried on my casting rods for bass and I hated it .

Well it did take getting use to and I also used it first for bass, but had to learn to set hook with less power and not tighten drag as much. I love the feel I get from the braid and would bet some of the crappie I have caught long lining that I wouldn't have know they even bit. Still at times I feel when the water clears some they may see it more than I would like? Is why I am thinking about using some mono on one rod for comparison. I have been thinking some things about the change in what I catch and find it strange that U sue to catch at least one 17" or longer every spring up until about 5 or 6 years ago. I still have caught my fare share, but none 17" or bigger so I have gone back thinking about what I was using before. I even went back to the late 1990's and early 2000's to think about the jigs I was using then. So will be trying a lot of older things next spring for sure!

Skip when I lived in Texas there we were catching the big boys On 4 pound test Monofilament and most of the bigger ones were caught on the joker striking we did catch quite a few on tubes On tree Tops down about 15 feet in April the biggest one that I caught was off of my own doc 3 pounds quite a few were in the pound and a half range didn’t seem to matter what color combination .
