I have had several questions about where we will meet up Saturday afternoon and eat. This will be held at the pavilion at the Persimmon Hill area on the south end of the dam at Enid Lake.
A lot of people are staying at Cossar State Park as there are camping spots and cabins available.

From the State Park.
Leave the park,
At the stop sign turn right on hwy 32.
Stay on 32 till you come to the stop sign at hwy 51, turn right heading north.
Stay on 51 for 5 miles, turn right on Enid Dam Rd.
After you cross over the interstate, there will be signs to the right to the Persimmon Hill area.
Pavillion will be on the left past the campgrounds

Hate that i have to work, as I am gonna miss a great time. Catch lots of fish and enjoy the fellowship.
John, is there a boat ramp right there at Persimmon Hill? Fish Cleaning??
I looked at the website but couldn't find any day use rates, or do I just pay a launch fee for the ramp?
Or would it be better to launch else where?

Brian, yes there is a ramp there, but no cleaning station. Pay at the fee box at the ramp (5$). That's the same at all ramps anywhere.Quote:

While you are here keep in mind that the size limit on Enid and the other three is OVER 12 inches. If you are putting them on ice in the boat do not keep anything shorter than 12.25!
The possum patrol has been having a field day and writing tickets for 12 inch fish, fine is in the $300 range too!!!!!:yikes

I, for one, would never intentionally break any game laws and I haven't kept a single fish under 12 1/4" for tha reason, however I think that our wildlife officials should know that a fish measuring over 12" when caught is gonna shrink when put on ice. They know that a fish on ice that measures 11 31/32" had to be over 12" when caught therefore was a legal fish when boxed. Ticketing a fisherman for that fish seems immoral and dishonest to me. If the Court judge fines a fisherman hundreds of dollars for an iced fish that measures that close to 12" , in my opinion, that judge and the warden issuing that ticket are involved in racketeering and are stealing hard earned money from the taxpayers and something should be done about that...... Just my opinion....
Working on this as we type, our justice court judges in Yalobusha county want to see it first hand, when crankfest is over we will video it happening, measure the fish each 30 minutes

I think it’s the responsibility of the fisherman to Know that the fish will shrink when put on ice. No way to police every situation at the public’s expense. If YOU know the fish will shrink below the legal length limit, Put It Back In The Lake!! Problem solved. You can’t have a law for Livewell fish and one for iced fish. SMH

Completely agree, I prefer 12 1/2 no matter if there going on ice or in the live well just to be safe. I don't see anything unfair about being ticketed for a 12" fish when the law clearly states the fish have to be above 12 inches.Quote:

Not really talking about semi- pros like all you geezers here but what about that family Guy that gets a chance to fish once or twice a year and wants enough fish to feed his family so he keeps all the fish he measures over 12", not really knowing about ice shrinkage. Them he gets hit with a huge fine thinking all the time he was legal?

I've been using my livewell in the Ranger all summer with water temps pushing 90 degrees.

It’s low 90’s. You’ll be fine if you measure them and put anything legal in the well under 12.3 inches. I had a trip today and had 25 on ice and 5 swimmers. They will shrink about 1/8th inch once dead. Doesn’t have to be on ice. So keep em healthy til your gone if your brave enough to keep one over 12 but under 12.3
I don't trust my measurement skills or Mr Green Jeans measurement skills enough to go under a 1/4".
