Auction Night and other ramblings

Mostly new items at the auction and old furniture, mostly over priced junk. Had a lot of candy last night that expired 4 and 6/18. Great price, but I don't buy expired dated items. Had some canned tuna, 2/$1, I bought a case so I could get it for $0.29 per can. I'll use it to bait traps here.
There's a gun show in one of the stores today, can't see paying $8 to get in a small space. I asked if any reloading supplies were there. Nope, so a waste of time for me.
Nope, never been in an outboard engine. Been in a 710 replacing main bearing studs.

Nice! An off, off topic thread now we're getting somewhere round here! :cheers2 whose your bait man cane? that tuna sounds awful pricey fur trappin' critters and such.

Kinda hard to beat .29 for 4 or 5 baits per coon trap. The cheap bait at TSC is $2.25 per trap.
Bait man? Crappie baits, I hit BPS on their spring sale, 12 jigs for $1.49.

Man if some could locate the old school plastic coolers with the thick lids from the 80s and 90s at the auction, I'd be all in . My last one tore up a few months ago . Bought the new version. Thin lid , won't hold ice. Carried it back , researched all the new roto style (or whatever you call them) made a educated purchase. 50qts i think ? Doesn't hold ice Any better than the old coolers , it's ok, but not what I expected. The big problem that I never considered is when I get it full , I need the whole team to get it in the boat . Think I'm gonna return it .

Wonder if anyone would admit to buying the Yeti 5 gallon bucket cooler for $40.00? I mean just because Yeti is on it must work right???

I'll have to look later today. It's a 35 qt Coleman or Igloo Extreme 7 with a silver body and white lid. I start with a block of ice I freeze fill it with goodies and top off with crushed ice. As the week goes on I take things out and add more. Drain water when needed and add more ice. After a week long trip there is still some of the block left when I get home.
My son has the 45 qt Extreme 5, silver/blue body with white lid. Doesn't hold ice very well.

Can't wait till next weekends auction report . Any you can go to during the week ?

Jimmy will be at Porky's Tunica Auction House August 16, Thursday starting at 6:31 pm.
He will have overstock and returns from Amazon, Target and a few more places. Can't remember the list.
He buys 18 wheeler truckloads for the best deals.
Porky's is at the Casino outlet mall, hwy 61 and Casino Center Drive. Robinsonville, MS.

I didn't buy much Saturday night. 6 cans of brake cleaner @ $1, 1 large watermelon @ $2.

I’ve got one of these and added latches to close it tight. Mine works great for a cheap cooler. I’ve had it so long I can’t remember what I paid for it in a 50qt (about 25.00), but it’s been a good cooler for well under the 250 going price of the high dollar bunch.

This Igloo Extreme 7 35 qt was about $19 when I bought it, I can't remember when. It keeps ice longer than my 50 qt high dollar cooler.
At walmart the lady had 3 cases of worms she was putting in the display cooler. I asked what she would do with the cases, throw they away. A double wall cardboard box with a styrofoam cooler inside with thick walls. The inside of it was scalloped to hold the containers and a gallon antifreeze jug in the center. I can freeze the jug, place it in the cooler and pack it with frozen stuff and close it. It will keep things frozen for 3 days sitting on the ground at my camper.
At an auction they sold 50 qt styrofoam coolers with 2 1/2" walls in a double wall cardboard box. People were throwing away the cardboard, I told them not to. First night they sold for $12, the last night they sold for $3. They sold for over a month, the seller had 250 of them.

Which 1 do you have ? If you've had it as long as I've had some of mine , it's likely the new one isn't as good .

Hard to find a good cooler that will hold ice over a day or 2. Could get an inverter to plug into the cig lighter for your truck and a mini fridge , but don't leave it plugged in while on the water.

I have the Igloo or Coleman (pretty sure it’s an Igloo) with the silver bottom and white top. It’s the xtreme 5 or 7 or Whatever they called em back then. I’ve had this cooler so long it’s become one of those things that you See but really don’t Look at. Lol

I saw the extreme mixed in with all the high dollar coolers in a YouTube review. It performed well, but was expensive for a "old school " style . I may take a second look at it though.

I think I remember now why Coleman Xtreme didn't make it into the boat . No shelf !! Price is reasonable though . I love a shelf in a cooler . Correct me if I'm wrong on this ?

There's a couple of cats fighting in my back yard at 4am. Woke me up just in time to go fishing....

That reminds me of years back. My daughter had a bedroom on the front of the house, we had some big shrubs along the front. She cried one night, can't sleep with all the cats in the shrubs. Animal control brought a live trap, I would bait it and they would pick a cat up in the morning. Monday night through Thursday night I baited the trap for 6 1/2 weeks.
The last night I caught a raccoon, a note was on the trap, depose of this, we take only dogs and cats.
Horn Lake has a leach law for all domestic animals.

Best cooler I've got is a coleman marine extreme, better that my rtic.

Looks like that model is 80qt + . Looking for 1 around 50 .

I am from his online auction. I could make amends with him and get back on. Talking with some of the people at the auction they are barred too. Debbie is on the group and lets me see what's up for bid and will bid on things I want.
I picked up 2 wheel barrow wheel kits @ $6 from the online auction last night.
He doesn't charge the 10% buyer's fee or tax on these sales.

I did pretty good last night at the auction.
Rachael Ray Nutrish pepperoni dog treats were $1 each of $5 for a box of 8, I got a box, Sasha loves them. They are $3 at walmart.
Post honey bunches of oats with strawberries with 12/20/2018 date $2 each or 4 for $5, I got the 4.
Coastal grease in the tube, $2 each or a case of 10 for $10, I got the case.
Warren Certified 30W motor oil 5 qt jug, $5 each or $12 for a case of 3, I got the case.

Sound like lots of deals . I broke my newest (9 footer) sportsbrella yesterday . Pole had bent a little bit from wind, I tried to straighten it .. snap!! Broke . The new sportsbrella may not be near the quality of the old . Our oldest 1 is over 5 years old . Seen lots of action, no problems. The new one is in its first season , already broke . That put the whole team (3) under 1-7 ft brella yesterday afternoon. I would like to find some more of the old sportsbrellas .

Bring it by, maybe we can salvage it.
I opened the box that the wheel barrow wheel is in. It has all the hardware that's needed for one. All that's missing is the tub and handles of a new one.
Last night I got 2 Rust-Oleum Never Wet kit @ $5. I asked about a better price by the case, said that was as cheap as he could go. It's $15.25 at the box store.
A 4 pack of 60 watt rough service light bulbs for $1, got 4 packs. They are good for droplights and camping.
A used Palmer lead melting pot for $5, as if I need another one. I found 2 on ebay for $47 and $52.

I agree,my old sport brella i bought 2010-2011.The new one i had out 3 times and pole is already hard to slide in and out.I think the old one was made better.

Looks like you can order new replacement pole , and old style thumb screw w/hub kit . May get rid of friction clamp on new brella , like blueball said , doesn't hold . I found an old school cooler ,( 50ish at) Coleman I think still in box , and bought a red 50qt igloo at academy for 25 bucks for fish cooler . Yesterday was their first day out , believe they'll be fine. I will provide exact models and more test data later . The roto mold cooler hasn't left the bed of my truck in weeks. It's just to dang heavy . Guess I'm getting old .

I saw an item auctioned off the other night, Oxy+ which is water with added oxygen. Water is H2O and Hydrogen Peroxide H2O2.
The Hydrogen Peroxide I buy is 3%. Got me to wondering, what are these people drinking.

Interesting.....

Spoke with sportbrella yesterday about broken extension pole , and cheap friction clamp . Took longer than it should have to get a human on the phone , but they were nice , and helpful . I was willing to pay for parts since warranty is out . They are aware of problems with changes to product, and have better prototypes coming next year they hope . They warranted my broken pieces, all I have to is send photos and descriptions of product/ damage. This makes me feel better about the company, but I feel the way the umbrellas have been lightened up to a point that I don't think they will ever be like the old brella. I'm going to try to limp through the summer with what I have , see what the new product looks like in 2019 , then make a decision to find another brand or stick with sportsbrella.

I would wait if you can until those Millenum umbrellas finally get here. If they are like the rest of their products the should be great.

Wasnt aware of this !! I have almost everything ez peddles . Thanks for the heads up !!! Ez probably didn't tell me about it yet , due to the fact that I'm a high maintenance customer . Do they have a release date ??

As far as I know right now no firm date. E Z has been told they were to be here soon some time ago. He is at the mercy of the factory and shipping. I would think they could show up soon. If I could hold off I'd sure wait.
