You have to just ride around a lot, not going too fast, using Downscan Imaging :)
If you really want to find brushpiles you might consider upgrading to a side image unit. It will save you allot of time and gas.
Other than dropping your own, best ways of finding piles is while you are out fishing, make a mental note where you see others fishing. especially if they are fishing around a orange marker bouy ;)
I paint my markers so if you see fishermen around a orange marker fish it but if another color just keep going, lol
How far out do you typically look at your side imaging? The unit I have actually has that option on there.

Another thing that helps, is looking for landmark that you would use to mark a brush pile location.
Other fisherman do the same thing.

with a 5” screen your gonna be real limited in how far out you cannlook and actually find something, i have a 12” er and run mine 100’ out each side, youd be better off to sink your own
I always see lazy potlickers with binoculars watching me set mine out.
Troll around fishing for Stripers with umbrella rigs you will find everyone of them. Then get out your rig retriever back up to your stuck rid, hit waypoint on your GPS while your trying to get your rigs out of the brush. Mark the waypoints to miss them or to fish them works both ways. No joke
With that Elite 5 you have its going to be very hard to find brush unless you ride over it. You would save time by just dropping your own. You can drop more in an hour than you can find in a few days with the small unit you are running. As far as where to look if you are set on doing it that way, go to the most populated areas of the lake. People don't usually drive very far with brush on their boats.
well if that unit is all you have then i would put it on 2d and adjust it right and run about 15 mph siz sag at the depth you want to fish per time of year,at this time of year points near mouth of creeks should have some on them,i use to find them all the time with just 2d still find them running 30 mph while going from one place to another
Troll some crank baits. You’ll find all the brush piles in the lake lol
