Alumalight make some good ones but they are pricey. You can make your own if you like to make things. Just go on YouTube and look for videos on how to make them

About 20 years, i begin hearing reports about green flouresent lights. They work great. Last a long time too, i am still using mine. It is a 3 foot light and needs about 1 ounce of sinker weight to make it vertical. It can be submersed with more weight. It really does draw shad and the light extends quite a ways from the boat. Low current draw too.
Ebay has some, that is where i got mine at. They are pricey though

Pm. ofishlbizzness on how to make then. He does really good. Starfires if you can find them. I use an inverter on my boat and run 26 watt curly bulbs = 100 watt light and they work pretty good. Also a hydroglow 4 foot led green light. There are many different ways to light up the water. ie… propane lanterns work hung over the side at an angle with a reflector shield to keep the light out of your eyes. You get bugs but hey that helps too!:Rofl Hope you find what you'll like. :twocents

Thanks. When I was a kid we'd hang kerosene lanterns over the side of my grandpa's pontoon boat on Beaver Lake.

I have used a variety of lights over the years. For a long time I used submersible flounder gig lights. They work well but they do use up a battery quicker. I use 10, 12 ft rods so I need something that will let me see that far out. The biggest problem I had with the gig lights is they take up some room plus they are awkward. The last couple years I've used an LED work light mounted to a pipe but out of the water. Great light but draws in bugs. I just made a light like something I found on youtube, a submersible LED. I'll try my best tomorrow or Tuesday night to go to the pond and just see how much light it puts out.
I have a star fire and it works well. Sometimes I think it draws in too much bait. My rods are also fished close to the boat, which doesn’t allow them to get outside of the main lighted area. I went back to using a clamp on style shop light with a 12V fluorescent bulb. With my setup, I seem to catch more with these light.

Any light will work and long as it penetrates the water. When you feel you have to much bait under the lights, just shut them off for a few minutes and the bait will leave. Turn your lights back on and start over, it does not hurt anything. I have had many different types of lights like everyone else. It all boils down to what suits you.
