Got a friend looking for some cheap baitcasters suitable for spider rigging. I got mine at Grizzly but he hasn't had any luck finding any thru them. Any suggestions on where he can look? Thanks in advance

Ebay
Sierra trading post has Shakespeare alphas for 16.99. That’s the cheapest I can find

I’ve found them at yard sales for as little $2 a piece, just bought two more Sat., 1 Shakespeare and 1 Garcia for two bucks each. Doesn’t happen every week, but it never happens if you don’t look.

Like grizz said these are cheapest I have found for awhile. I have some I been fishing about 5 years and never had a problem with them. Sierra is good place to buy from.
Have to agree with Cray. I have 5 of them and I've never had an issue with them. By far best reel for the buck.
They have them on clearnce for $12 now thinking about picking some up. Do they hold up?
I have 6 of the alpha's too bout 2-3 years old.. nice reals and the 12.00 price is great
Will do the job. Would not hesitate at 12.00 and free shipping if first order .
I just ordered 8. At that price it’s worth it if they only hold up a couple years

I ordered 8 as well
Also ordered 8. Thanks for info on clearance sale.
I already have 8 of the Grizzly ones, they are fine. They were $25 then, but worth it.
i didnt need any but for 12.00 i ordered 4
Y'all gotta quit posting stuff like this! Cost me some more money. LOL
I decided this spring after really getting hooked on spider rigging to use baitcasters on my spider rigging poles.
I have several old Shimano Bantam size 10 reels and I rigged up a couple of them and liked them but they don't have a thumb bar release. I decided to get four of the Shakespeare's for my son to use. I figure that thumb bar would be easier for him to get use to. I got him 4 on the way.
I got a feeling they will run out of stock pretty soon

Thumb bar the only way to go.
Where are the 12 dollar reels

I order eight also now need eight cheap 10ft poles to put them on.
Ordered some a few days ago, called customer service and they said there was a "slight" problem and they are awaiting the reels.
I ordered 8 on Monday. I received an email yesterday that said order has been shipped. After reading your post, now I'm not so sure. :dono
I bought four of these reels at Grizzly Jig. One is still working.
Mine came in Friday. I didn't open them until today. They are smooth enough and I love the low profile of them. If they last a few years they'll be worth it. I do like the thumb bar spool release. I have been using 4, 30 year old Shimano Bantam's and they have the push lever on one side of the reel. It's harder to "ease out" a fish with them not having the thumb bar. I'll keep using the Shimanos and my son can use the Shakespeares since they're easier to control.
Got mine Saturday late
