I've got several dozen old duck decoys and I've got a son that wants to go "noodling"
The decoys are all 30 years old and the paint isn't in good enough shape to get much if I tried to sell them.
I thought about painting them all bright orange or white and using them for noodles.
Thoughts?
Probably work well as long somebody didn't come along and want a decoy, no matter the color. Good luck getting some big cats with your son.
I pulled them out of the deep recesses of storage in my shop this afternoon. They are in much better shape than I originally thought. I think I'll try to sell them and use the proceeds to buy the noodles and pvc to make some proper noodles. :)
If I find any that aren't much good, I'm still gonna use them for noodles just because I've never seen anyone do that. LOL
it would work, best float I have looked at was in Louisiana. Just use 1.5 inch pvc then attach round float in the center. Use duck decoy string for weight on one end. Then use same string for leader and hook on opposite end. Go out and set floats, if you have a fish one end is normally sticking up in the air. this guy was a serious commercial fisherman that we met by luck. He took us out two nights and we caught amazing amounts of catfish. Used cutbait on the circle hooks.

That will work just fine. It isn't like the catfish says, "I ain't biting that hook 'cause it ain't attached to a noodle." The principle for jug is a some kind of buoyant material attached to line, hook and bait. That's all. The material you choose is up to you. Never fixate on what something looks like. Learn why it works, and use whatever materials you have on hand to achieve whatever objective you've set.

Probably 3 dozen, with 1/2 dozen or so geese. Duck deeks are mallard and gadwall. NE AL
I used to live up there, get over that way sometimes. I used to catch a bunch right South of the 36 bridge on West side.
That sounds just plain funny. To watch a decoy Bob up and down in the water. Might let him run for awhile just to laugh. But if he can pull it under I might want to pull him up anyways
