I'm headed to High Rock with a friend this weekend to do some catfishing. Where should I be looking? I'm a little in-experienced when it comes to cating so any help I'd appreciate it. Will likely put in at Tamarac. Thanks

the lake is slam full of them and i truly hope you fill your boat up withem, those three humps out infront of blacks bottom between those hump and the islands, i cant keep them off when i troll through there, and i have caughtem over 30 in there too not just the 3-5lb eaters, uplake infront of the shrine club and just north tight to the western bank in the channel also holds alot and youll run into more flatheads up that way, guys jugfish that area alot, good luck to ya, if you have a hard time catching them usung “traditiinal” methods, try trolling some crankbaits near those humps, pull over top of the deeper two humps and in the channel between the humps and the islands
My neighbor who lives up here in Crane caught a 42 lber by hand at the Swearing creek bridge this past weekend. I don’t noodle but did catch a 26 lber under same bridge with jig tipped with minnow. Like Goobler said hope you get every catfish in the lake. They eat crappie!
How is the crappie fishing in Crane creek? Just rented a space and setting up a camper in there in a few weeks. Never fished that far up high rock. Usually in flat swamp.
Sounds like you may be in Goodman Lake area. Goodman Lake is great especially in the spring. Crane is good year round but you will have to find them. The S turns usually holds fish. The mouth has several coves that has fish as well. Persimmon Branch runs from Goat Island up into Dan Nicholas Park and is long and straight. Good long lining area until you get to the back then its shallow. Lots of opportunities in Crane. Welcome to the Lake!
It's good. Just need to look for current and shade this time of year. You'd be surprised how many crappie hold in the shade of the bridge this time of year.... Or at least pass through that pinch point. Great place to catfish late evening and night.Quote:

I fished Saturday night and never got on anything much. Caught one flathead that was just shy of 9lbs
Fished Saturday night as well. Got home about daylight. We left them biting. Had an awesome night. Tried a spot I never fished before at night. My penny... You have to find current and traffic. It was slow to begin with and we moved 20 feet and it was on.... Fished 20 to 30 foot of water on the edge of a drop off. Here's a pic of my Helix before we left. Red line down to 10 foot was our shad ball form the light. We fished 15 to 20 foot. They'd slow bite from time to time. Had to tail hook the bait from time to time. We'd probably had a 100 if we caught everyone that bit... Crappie that is... a couple of catfish.Quote:

thats not it at all, its between panther and second, there are two small islands and three underwater humps with a channel between the humps and island, blacks bottom is actually back behind the islands but id stay out deeperaround the humps
Link must not be working right. I know where blacks bottom is. I've fished it many times. I'll see if I can a pic of the map.
Its on the west side of the lake. If you're going north west up the lake then the Panther Creek to Second Creek reference makes sense. The red Bank islands are on the east side of the lake.
