Has anyone ever used one of these? Thoughts? Experiences? I went yesterday and caught 4 right close to dark. I lit up my gooch2000 nightlight (Empty margarita bucket with a lightbulb in it...don't laugh..works GREAT!) and here come the skeeters. (Teeth showing and big enough to rape a turkey.) Gotta have some relief from them blood suckers...

I don't know how effective they will be against your turkey rapers...but they work for our little ones over here...
For once, you can believe the hype. T-Cell is the real deal. Only a couple of things to be careful of, keep it horizontal once lit, not hanging vertically like I did the first year I had one. Take a look at it and make sure you see a wisp of smoke comin out of it and once your blue wafer is white, slap another one in there. Great product.
But how does it do in the wind?
When the wind picks up enough to blow the skeeter repelent its usually enough wind to keep the skeeters off as well.
Had one by me one night and when I walked away to do something the skeeters swarmed me, I walked back and sat back down by it and no skeeters.

My cousin who is a deer slayer in WV says these things work great. He lights one and sits in his stand from dawn to dusk with nary a skeeter bite.

Ive got 2 thermo cells,well worth the money.Skeeter eat my sanificant other up and it keeps them off of her.
You can't go wrong with a Thermacell. They are worth they money and I use the heck out of mine. I highly recommend you get one! :D
They are absolutely worth the money and probably the best outdoors item I've ever purchased. I deer hunt a lot, and I believe you could sit in the bottoms "nekkid" and not get bit. I know they work, but haven't exactly tried that scenario!! Yeah.....I know........ thanks for the mental picture:D
I agree, probably one of the best purchases I have made.
The thermocell really works I use it in the deer stand and on the front porch or deck. It keeps the mosquitos away.
I have a buddy that swears by it. I have the lantern version of it, but haven't used it a lot. I have heard that it doesn't do quite as well on water as in a deer stand. wind & moving a lot have a tendency to cut down the effectiveness of it. I would like to know if anyone has used it on the water, & if it was effective. I would be fishing a lot at night if it did work.
If it's a little windy, I just make sure to put it where the wind is gonna blow from the unit to me. Ya gotta "play the wind" a little bit. If it gets much windier than that, I shouldn't have much of a bug problem anyway.
Randy you can sit on Mound Lake at midnight in August and not get bit. Like other posters have said when the wind gets to the point it renders the thermocell ineffective it usually is windy enough to keep the skeeters at bay anyway.Quote:

I have a several friends at the deer lease that have them and swear by them. The wife is supposed to pick me one up in the a.m. to take with us tomorrow night fishing. Skeeters aren't really bad here yet, but want it just in case.
Well guys, I went out to Wallly World Friday and picked me up a themocell and took it to the turkey woods with me. BY FAR THE GREATEST INVENTION SINCE BEER AND THE LIGHT BULB! Went down in the bottoms below my house and I could see the skeeters rise from the leaves. They were getting away as fast as they could. I will never go in the woods without one again for sure!!! I never even heard a skeeter buzz by!!!

Got me one of the handheld models last nite like you recommended BW. Went ahead and got the refill kit also, since you say this thing is best invention since sliced bread. :D
BTW, There are 4 monster crappies in the aquarium at Bass Pro in St. Louis. You got to check them out sometime... definitely need the long filet blade to knock the sides off of these...:D
Hey JonhR you and BW take it too the Arkansas River some warm July or August night, that will be the acid test. If it repels there you don't have to worry about anywhere Else.:D
From the results I had last weekend turkey hunting, I will bet money they won't bug us :D
I'm not as confident as you are BW. :D but we need to setup a nightstalk soon and give it the acid test.
