VA board is dead!

The VA board here on C.C. is dead! I've been away from the lake for a few weeks so I check on here daily to see if anyone has posted a report. Zip, zero, zilch so far for an actual fishing report for the month of June. Wow, how sad, I know it's been mentioned but this really used to be a fun board. Now I still love my C.C. and read and post on the main and electronic pages but see very little here on the VA board. Why? I know several of us old timers post a report now and then, you'll see 200 or so people viewed it but only a couple at most respond. Sad. The North Carolina board is still going strong. Not really asking people to give up their secret honey holes, lol, but a few reports on I've been fishing in a lake, river, or pond and catching a few using x bait, fishing x deep maybe would help get this board going. Hope to be back on the water soon and post a report. Bet if I mentioned in the subject something about a 4 pounder you would see lots of views but stil, very few responses , lol.

I agree Roy. It is a sad situation.

Guilty! I too have noticed how things have slowed and kinda wondered? As for myself I must admit I have returned to the “Dark Side” and started chasing greenies again ��! Yes I am weak! I stop in on an offshore board also and it has slowed to a crawl also. Maybe to most folks the attraction or entertainment of posting has just worn off? Shame, learned a lot from these boards!

We’ll share alittle something for those viewing... Fished a few hours Sat morning and learned another reason to use sharpe hooks! Not only do sharpe hooks increase your chances of closing the deal on a hit but it helps the Doc at the ER push it on through when this happens!

I'm still here, 11 days till semi retirement, will be back on the lakes and rivers! And I'm not afraid of you, I can still run circles around you and your walker!

I live in Pa and only get to fish Va water 5 or 6 times a year. I can tell you about fly fishing in Pa! Also I took of 5 days and went with two old friends to the South Houlston river in Tenn. We caught a fair amount of trout but the fly hatches were almost no existent and most fish were small only 7 to 9 inches. However we saw beaver, turkeys, deer, a raccoon ( caught in a live trap behind our cabin) and even a black bear smelling out garbage bag. I guess he did not like our scraps in it as he did not even tear it open. Also with the heat and humidity it is not much fun sweating my behind off while fishing.
Some words of wisdom for Boscoe. I have a home improvement business and told many of my long term clients I was semi-retiring this year but would work for them. Every one has work for me. I only had 7 or 8 days off of since mid March! Hope you enjoy your retirement more then I am currently enjoying mine.

I got you beat Bosco only three days and I'm retired:juggle:highfive:biggrin and Roy I'll still give some reports when I start fishing Oconee lake where I will be living very soon. I can not wait!!!!!!!!

That's great news! I've been retired for about 10 months now. Loving it! But even being retired and moving to the lake it's still hard finding the time to fish as much as I want, lol. Looking forward to reading your reports.

I'd like to post reports, but life tends to get in the way sometimes. Been a tough year around our home, but hopefully I'll be able to get to Suffolk soon and see what's happening.

I've done that before . I was about 12 miles out on the bay and caught my self I the side buried both barbs . I yanked it out real quick with pliers talk about pain man (whooa) .

Wow. I should drop by here more often. Guess I just assumed most of you guys we passed away. Isn’t he US life expectancy for men 76. It’s really cool that so many of you are beating the odds��I can’t rememberthe last time I crappie fished. Son is into bass fishing now and I am captaining for some of those tournaments. His high school even got a couple teams together for an Flw event.

I agree, this board lacks post. I am doing more saltwater fishing, and the salt boards are also lacking! All I see anymore is looky at what I caught. I also think more folks are working and rest on weekends vs go out fishing. When the economy sucked everyone had plenty of time on there hands, thus more time to fish. Most folks now cannot keep up with work, 12 to 16 hr days.
‘I fish for what is biting best and flounder in salt and bass in back bay are what is biting. Plus I have picked up a few crappie in duck blinds, small in size but it is catching. I kind of feel like the birds are eating up all the fish, I see them catching them every time I go out.

hey guys,i don't go to va board much,hope all are doing well,maybe i will give a few reports on gaston,i did not know any would want a report on gaston,i have been doing well on it,just fish it in the mornings once in a while,last trip last week had a 15- 14 1/5 and many 12-13 inchers,caught 28 and was still bitting but was getting too hot for me so i left,12 to 15 feet deep on jigs, roy are you coming back or is don and me going to inhertice your house:Rofl

I just asked to join it, would it be a problem if I posted something about crappie.com. maybe get some people in here. I really do like this place I've learned alot since I started coming here. Especially from you guys

C.C. site rules, like most others, do not allow "direct links" to other fishing sites. This is not to say you can't mention C.C. on Facebook but keep in mind I know nothing about Facebook or how it works (and don't want to know). I really doubt that they would care and perhaps some people that don't know we exist might see it. We can always use new members.

I don't crappie fish in the summer. Yesterday the flounder and spadefish were biting out of Va Beach. Was surprised to find crappie still on the beds in Lake Meade in late May this year.

Fresh, new blood is the sometimes needed bring to us back to life, I think the same goes for forum boards. On the lake, at the ramp, in the bait store, even in the sporting goods sections of your favorite stores are potential new C.C. members, they just haven't been asked or informed that such a resource is available. The long history of fishing and resources in Va., make the state fertile for new membership. Hope this motivates several of the active members to extend invitations to like same sportsman that are shopping, boating, fishing, etc. around them. I even think a modified state motto might be in order "Virginia is for Lovers of Fish". lol

Hey guys![emoji112] im a NC boy but I try to get to Kerr once a month at least.(the Va side) where i was taken as a kid. Clarksville, Buffalo, Rudds creek. Best believe ill post reports when i make it back. Last venture out the wife didnt make it but about an hour and was sick so i had to pack it up. Sorry guys I have not been feeling well for about three months, I would get tired just putting the boat in the water. The drugs they have me on I can't take the heat like I used to. I had heart surgery the 1st of June. Lost a lot of work, then my father in law passed away, May/June has not been good to us this year. Boat motor has been giving me fits, but I think that I am close to resolving its issues. I will be back fighting soon. A side note I did make it out for a few hours with my grandson. His first time out and smacked a 23" cat. Fought it all by himself, now he is hooked.:biggrin Jim I'll miss seeing you on the river but you have a great retirement and I'll be semi-retirement in April.
